Markers for YouTube turns any YouTube video into a set of clickable timeline markers with your own Markdown notes — and syncs everything into an Obsidian vault as Markdown files, into Anytype as linked objects, or both at once. FEATURES - Timeline markers — mark any moment on the video's progress bar and jump between markers. Markers are saved per video and restored when you come back. - Markdown notes per marker — write a note on each marker. Full Markdown (bold, italic, headings, lists, code, quotes, links) renders in the notes panel and in everything you export. - Markdown editing that gets out of the way — Ctrl+B bold, Ctrl+I italic, Ctrl+K link, Ctrl+E code, Ctrl+Shift+X strikethrough. Select text and a small toolbar appears over it. Press Enter inside a list and the next bullet is written for you; press it on an empty one and the list ends. - Under-video notes panel — a clean list of every marker for the current video. On wide desktop layouts the panel appears at the top of the suggestions column and matches the video's height; in theater mode or narrow windows it moves under the video. It follows YouTube's light/dark theme automatically. - Obsidian vault sync — write your markers as Markdown files straight into a folder you choose, using the browser File System Access API. No server, no account, no cloud. Import existing files back to restore after a reinstall. - Anytype sync — push each video into your Anytype space as a YouTube Video object: the title as the name, the channel, duration, video URL and marker count as properties, and your markers as a list of links that open YouTube at the right second. Import reads them back, so notes you edit inside Anytype come home. Talks to the Anytype desktop app over its local API on your own machine — nothing leaves the computer. - Auto-sync — turn it on and each edit lands in your vault or space a couple of seconds later, in the background. Sync only writes and updates; it never deletes anything you have in Obsidian or Anytype. - Keyboard shortcuts — Add (Alt+Shift+A), Remove (Alt+Shift+R), Previous / Next marker (Alt+Shift+←/→). Editable at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. - Screenshots — capture the current frame with one click. - History popup — a searchable, filterable list of all marked videos, with per-column filters, data import/export (JSON), and a one-click "merge duplicate videos" cleanup. - Appearance settings — marker color, active color, width, height, opacity, and time labels. SETTING UP ANYTYPE Open Anytype and leave it running, create a key under Settings → API Keys, then paste it into the extension's settings and pick your space. The extension creates the YouTube Video type and its properties on first use. Switching to another space later is fine — it rebuilds them there. PRIVACY Everything stays on your device. Markers, notes and settings are stored locally in the browser; vault files are written only to the local folder you pick; Anytype objects go to the Anytype app running on the same computer, over 127.0.0.1. The extension has no servers, sends no data anywhere, and contains no ads, analytics or tracking. Access to 127.0.0.1 is an optional permission, requested only when you connect Anytype and never used for anything else. Works on youtube.com/watch pages. Open-source, licensed under GPL-3.0.
