Media Controls Companion connects your browser to Media Controls for PowerToys Command Palette on Windows. Control individual media tabs from Command Palette and the Dock. INSTALL THE DESKTOP APP FIRST This companion is designed to be used with Media Controls on Windows. Install PowerToys Command Palette and a compatible Media Controls desktop release, then enable Browser companion under Media sources. The desktop bridge is included in Media Controls. BRING BROWSER MEDIA TO MEDIA CONTROLS - See individual music, podcast, and video tabs alongside your other desktop media sources. - Control each tab independently, even when two tabs have identical track names. - Switch to the exact media tab from Media Controls. - Use track titles, artists, artwork, and playback state supplied by the website. COMPANION POPUP The browser popup gives you a quick view of the tabs shared with Media Controls. Pause, resume, skip supported tracks, open a tab, or reach additional players through More controls. Playback progress appears when the website provides it. AUTOMATIC MEDIA DISCOVERY Allow access on all websites so the companion can automatically discover media across your browser tabs. If you restrict access to specific sites, the companion can only discover and control media on those sites. Enable access separately for any other sites you want to use. Start audio or video with sound enabled to make its player appear. Unplayed media and muted autoplay previews stay hidden; detected players remain available after pause or mute. LOCAL BY DESIGN No account, analytics, advertising, or project cloud service. Media details and commands are transferred to the Media Controls desktop bridge on your PC. Artwork and favicon requests can contact the website's image servers. BEFORE YOU START Designed and tested for Windows desktop. Reload existing media tabs after installation. Browser-internal pages, extension stores, private browsing, and pages without granted site access are not supported. Available commands depend on the website and player; the extension cannot bypass playback or site restrictions.
