Keep your Claude AI session alive automatically. Auto-pings Claude every 5 hours, monitors session & weekly usage limits.
Claude Auto Pinger - Never Lose Your Claude AI Session Again! Tired of losing your Claude AI session because it timed out? Claude Auto Pinger automatically keeps your session alive by sending a small keep-alive ping every 5 hours, so you always have access when you need it. Requires Claude Pro or Max. Free accounts are detected automatically. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✨ KEY FEATURES ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⏰ AUTOMATIC SESSION KEEP-ALIVE • Sends a lightweight "Hello" to Claude every 5 hours automatically (incognito chat with Haiku 4.5 - the smallest, cheapest model) • Runs silently in the background - no interruptions • Survives browser restarts (Chrome alarms persist across sessions) • Restores your previously selected model after each ping - your Opus 5 / Sonnet 5 / Fable 5.1 default is never changed silently 🧠 SMART SKIP (on by default - you can opt out) • Before every ping, the extension refreshes your usage page and checks whether a Claude session is already running • If one is, it skips the ping - no point starting a redundant window while you're coding • "Run now" follows the same rule: it refreshes first and shows you the live session instead of burning a redundant ping • Want every ping to go out regardless? Turn Smart Skip off in Settings • Saves quota for users who code throughout the day 🕒 CUSTOM PING SCHEDULE • Click hours on a clean 24-hour grid (00–23) to ping at exact local-time slots instead of every 5 hours • One-click presets: Every 6 h, Every 8 h, Overnight (3 AM) • Perfect for night-owl coders who want a fresh window ready at 3 AM, or anyone with a regular daily schedule • Live summary shows the resulting times (e.g. "Pings at 03:00 · 09:00 · 15:00 · 21:00") 📊 REAL-TIME USAGE DASHBOARD • Live countdown timer to next scheduled ping (updates every second) • Current session usage % with color-coded progress bar (yellow at 60 %, red at 80 %) • Weekly usage limit % with reset date • Session reset timer so you know exactly when limits refresh • Optimistic update - the session bar jumps to 100 % remaining the moment a ping succeeds (no more "stuck at 2 % remaining") • Every ping is verified five minutes later against your real usage page - a ping that didn't register is retried, not silently counted as a success • Configurable auto-refresh (15 min / 30 min / 1 h / 2 h - default 30 min) 🛡️ SAFE-START DIAGNOSTIC • Doesn't silently start on install - waits for your first "Run now" click • Verifies you're signed in to claude.ai before doing anything • Detects Free-plan accounts (claude.ai redirects them to /upgrade) and tells you clearly • If your session is already active, the very first ping is intelligently skipped • Clear error banners for every failure mode ("You're signed out", "Free plan detected", "Couldn't read your usage page") • Recoverable problems retry automatically on your refresh interval - sign back in and it picks up where it left off, no clicking required 🎮 FULL MANUAL CONTROL • Run Now - trigger an immediate ping anytime (button is properly disabled while a ping is in flight, so you can't accidentally double-ping) • Pause / Resume - temporarily disable auto-pinging • Refresh - manually re-sync with Claude's usage data ☀️ DARK + LIGHT THEMES • Default dark mode uses bright white text on a dark background for easy reading on glossy screens • One-click toggle (☀️ / 🌙 in the popup header) for a true white-background light mode • Your choice is remembered between sessions 📋 ACTIVITY HISTORY • View the last 10 ping/refresh/skip events with status icons • See success, error, and info events at a glance • "Sent 'Hello' to Haiku 4.5", "Session already running (21 % used, resets 2h 14m) - no ping needed", "Model restored to Opus 5", etc. 👋 WELCOME PAGE ON FIRST INSTALL • A friendly onboarding tab opens once when you install the extension • 3-step setup guide, feature overview, settings explained with a live hour-grid mockup, FAQ • No external website needed - everything is bundled in the extension 🔒 PRIVACY FIRST • Zero data collection - nothing is sent to external servers • No analytics, no tracking, no cookies • Everything stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local • Only talks to claude.ai (the extension's host permission) • Open and transparent - review the source code yourself ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🤔 HOW IT WORKS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 1. Install the extension 2. Make sure you're signed in at claude.ai with a Pro or Max plan 3. Click the extension icon and click "Run now" once 4. The extension verifies your sign-in, reads your session reset time, and either pings to start a fresh window or - if you're already in a session - queues the next ping for after it resets 5. Each ping opens a hidden tab, switches to Haiku 4.5, sends a quick "Hello", restores your previously selected model, and closes the tab 6. Five minutes later it re-checks your usage page to confirm the session really started - and tries again if it didn't 7. Your session stays alive - no more timeouts! ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📬 SUPPORT & FEEDBACK ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Love the extension? Leave a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review! Questions or issues? Claude's usage page writes those resets with a day in front ("Resets Sat 1:00 AM"), which v1.2.4 couldn't read, so every evening refresh missed the session. They're read correctly now. • Fixed: "Ping didn't register" after pings that did. Any usage on the session row now counts as a live session, even when the reset line can't be read. • Harder to break next time: one reader handles every way of writing the reset (today, tomorrow, a weekday, a date, 12- or 24-hour times), and the session and weekly rows are found through the usage bars' own labels, not the text around them. • If the page ever shows a live session without a readable reset time, the extension checks again on your auto-refresh interval instead of waiting five hours. • The popup now opens in light mode by default. The 🌙 button still switches to dark, and anyone who picked dark before keeps it. Previously, in v1.2.4: • Fixed: Claude redesigned its usage settings page in September 2026 and the extension could no longer read it - "Couldn't read your usage page", a red ! on the icon, and both usage bars stuck on "-". It reads the new page now, and the old one too. • Fixed: the new page writes your session reset as a clock time ("Resets at 5:00 AM") instead of a countdown ("Resets in 4 hr 40 min"), and the page doesn't say whether that time belongs to a session that's running. Taken as proof, it could have looked like a permanently live session and the extension would have quietly stopped pinging. It doesn't take it as proof. • New: the weekly reset shows the day and the countdown together - "Resets Tuesday 9:00 AM - in 4d 8h" - in the popup and in the icon tooltip. • Fixed: a weekly reset falling later the same day was shown as a week away. And in v1.2.3: • New: the toolbar icon now shows a countdown to the next ping - "4h" while it's hours away, "37m" inside the last hour, "now" once it's due. No need to open the popup to know where you stand. • New: hover the icon for the full picture in one tooltip - exact next-ping time, session % and weekly % with their reset times, when the last ping went out, and the current error if there is one. • The badge colour carries the state: orange counting down normally, red if the last attempt failed, blue while a cycle is running, amber "NEW" if you haven't clicked Run now yet, grey "OFF" while paused. • You can switch the badge off in Settings ("Countdown on the icon"). The hover tooltip stays either way. And in v1.2.2: • Fixed: the extension could get stuck pinging every minute. A session that had only just started shows "0% used" on claude.ai, and v1.2.0 read that as "no session running" - so it queued a ping a minute later, saw 0% again, and kept going. A live session is now recognised by its 5-hour countdown, not by the percentage next to it. • New: a hard 20-minute floor between automatic pings, so no future misread can ever turn into a ping loop. "Run now" is unaffected - click it and it pings. • Fixed: an account with no session open was reported as an unreadable usage page. It is now understood correctly, and answered with a ping. • More robust reading of your usage page, so claude.ai layout changes are less likely to confuse it. Also included, from v1.2.0: • Fixed: your model is restored again after a ping. claude.ai changed its model menu and the extension could no longer tell which model you were on, so it left you sitting on Haiku 4.5. The picker now uses Claude's own model IDs and works with Opus 5, Sonnet 5, Fable 5.1 and Haiku 4.5. • Fixed: a ping that failed halfway used to leave you stuck on Haiku. The switch back now happens even when the ping itself fails. • Fixed: one failed attempt no longer costs you five hours - recoverable failures retry on your auto-refresh interval instead of waiting out a whole cycle. • Fixed: saving Settings reset the countdown to 5 hours instead of keeping the correct next-ping time. • Fixed: the extension could get stuck with "Run now" and "Refresh" greyed out after Chrome interrupted a background run. • New: every cycle refreshes first, checks whether a session is already running, and only pings if one isn't. • New: pings are verified five minutes later against your real usage page, and retried if they didn't register. • New: the version number is shown next to the title in the popup. • Being signed out no longer stops the extension - it keeps checking on your interval and resumes on its own once you sign back in. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💻 BROWSER SUPPORT ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✅ Google Chrome 88+ ✅ Microsoft Edge (Chromium) ✅ Brave Browser ✅ Arc ✅ Other Chromium-based browsers ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⚠️ IMPORTANT — DISCLAIMER ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ This is an unofficial, community-built browser extension.
