Overview

Save pages, images & notes into collections — with dead-link snapshots, sharing, AI search & organize, a reading list, and more.

Collections Plus is an open, local-first replacement for Microsoft Edge Collections (which Microsoft is retiring around Edge 149, mid-2026). Save web pages, images, and notes into organized collections — with no account, no server, and no telemetry. Your data stays in your browser. SAVE ANYTHING • Save the current page with one click or Ctrl+Shift+S (with thumbnail, favicon and title). • Right-click any page, link, image, or selected text to save it — or save selection as a highlight with a link back to its source and your own note. • Add all open tabs to a collection at once, or drag a link or image onto the panel. • Auto-file rules route quick-saves into the right collection by domain, URL, or title. ORGANIZE • Folders, tags, pinning, and custom covers keep big libraries tidy. • Checkboxes turn any collection into a checklist; custom fields (price, qty, SKU…) add structured data that flows into exports. • Sort by newest, oldest, or A–Z (or keep your manual drag order), and switch to a compact view to see more at once. • A recoverable Trash (auto-emptied after 30 days) and an Archive mean nothing vanishes by accident. FIND IT AGAIN • Search across titles, URLs, notes, tags, and custom fields, with a per-collection filter box. • AI search (✨) finds items by meaning, not just keywords. • Reading list: saved pages start unread and collect in one place — open one to mark it read. • Command palette (Ctrl+K) to jump to any collection or run any command. • Address-bar search: type "col" then your query to find a saved page without opening the panel. BEAT LINK ROT • Check links flags saved pages that have gone dead; turn on auto-check to run it quietly in the background. • Save a readable snapshot of any page so the content survives even if the original disappears. SHARE & EXPORT • Share any collection as a clean, self-contained web page you can send to anyone. • Export to real Excel (.xlsx) with clickable links, plus CSV, Markdown, and HTML; copy links to the clipboard. • High-fidelity JSON backup and a local version history you can roll back to. BRING YOUR OWN AI (OPTIONAL) • Bring your own API key to enable optional AI features — works with major AI providers, or run a fully local model so nothing leaves your machine. • Chat with your collections, summarize a page into a TL;DR, suggest tags, organize a collection, or get a weekly digest of what you saved. • Your key is stored locally, never synced, never exported, and never seen by the developer. MIGRATE & SYNC • Import your Edge Collections export (CSV), or import your Chrome/Edge bookmarks (each folder becomes a collection). • Optional cross-device sync through a single file in any cloud-synced folder — still no account, no server. PRIVACY Everything is stored locally in your browser. Sync, offline image caching, dead-link checking, and all AI features are off until you turn them on. When you use an AI feature, the relevant collection data goes from your browser straight to the AI provider you chose (or to a local model, in which case nothing leaves your machine). Free and open source (MIT): https://github.com/rod-trent/Collections-Plus What's new (2.0.0) Collections Plus 2.0 — the biggest update yet, with 13 new features: • Beat link rot — check links and save readable page snapshots so content survives • Share any collection as a clean, self-contained web page • AI that does the work — summarize, suggest tags, organize, and a weekly digest • AI search (✨) — find saved items by meaning, not just keywords • Reading list — saved pages start unread and collect in one place • Highlights & annotations — save selected text with a link back to its source • Command palette (Ctrl+K) and address-bar search (type "col") • Import your Chrome/Edge bookmarks as collections • Auto-file rules — route quick-saves by domain, URL, or title • Sort & compact views, a System (auto light/dark) theme, and a tidier menu Everything stays local-first: no account, no server, and every networked or AI feature is off until you turn it on.
