Chat Archive
Overview
Save the ChatGPT conversation you are viewing as a text or Word document.
Save a ChatGPT conversation you want to keep. Chat Archive exports the messages currently loaded in your open ChatGPT tab to a file on your computer. Choose the format that works for you: • TXT for a simple, readable transcript with speaker labels. • Word (.docx) for an editable document you can open in Microsoft Word or other compatible apps. Open a conversation on chatgpt.com, click the Chat Archive icon, check the message count, and choose a format. The popup also has a Go to ChatGPT shortcut. If ChatGPT's page layout prevents automatic detection, you can select text on the page and save that selection as TXT or Word. Your chat is processed locally in your browser. Chat Archive has no account, server, analytics, or advertising. It reads the current tab only after you click the extension. Very long chats may have messages that are not loaded in the page; compare the message count before saving. Attachments and generated media are not embedded in the file. Word export preserves readable text and line breaks but may not reproduce all on-screen formatting. Chat Archive is made by Red Kodiak Labs and is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.
