Overview
Use social media intentionally. Eclipsis puts the engineered-to-be-addictive feeds in shadow so the time you spend stays your own.
You did not decide to spend two hours in the feed. Feeds are engineered to make you spend more time on them. Eclipsis makes social media less addictive by removing the parts engineered to hold you, then slowing down what is left until the scroll ends on its own. It runs entirely in your browser. No account, no sign-in, no subscription. LESS ADDICTIVE BY DESIGN The engineered surfaces go first, on eight platforms, it removes short-form feeds and their entry points, recommendation rails, autoplay, playables, and "open in the app" nags are stripped out before you see them. What is left is the content you came for, without the machinery that turns five minutes into fifty. THE FEED RUNS OUT This is the part nothing else does. After a handful of posts, each new one takes a little longer to arrive. The bottomless feed quietly reaches a bottom, and you put the phone down because there is nothing left pulling you on. No popups. No countdowns. No lockout screen to tap through and resent. The page stays usable the whole time: read, search, comment, visit profiles. TWO MODES Basic, the default. New posts load progressively slower the longer you scroll, a handful arrive freely, and short-form is blocked outright. Detox, for anyone who knows cold turkey will fail them. The slowdown starts gently and tightens a little each day for about 60 days, then settles into Basic. MADE TO STICK Tightening a setting applies at once. Loosening one waits three minutes, long enough for the urge to pass, so a weak moment cannot undo a good decision. Pausing protection honours the same wait, and an expired pause restores itself even with no page open. Parent Mode puts every setting behind a passphrase for a shared or a child's computer. OPTIONAL AI DETECTOR, IN BETA Turn it on and Eclipsis flags text that reads like it was written by AI, on the pages you visit and inside your feeds. It is off by default, the analysis happens on your own machine, and nothing about the pages you read is transmitted. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, no ads. Your settings and counters live in your browser's own storage and go nowhere else. Eclipsis needs no account, and creating one changes nothing here. The only data that ever leaves your machine is a bug report you choose to write and send. Diagnostics are attached only if you tick the box, and nothing is sent if you do not press the button. ALSO ON IPHONE There is an Eclipsis iPhone app with the same idea, sold separately. This extension is free and always will be.
