Overview
Checks the CEFR level (A1-C1) of English text and highlights words above the level you pick.
Pick a text on any web page, and this extension estimates how hard it is to read in English — a band from A1 to C1 — and marks every word that sits above the level you are teaching. It is built for the work that happens before a lesson: you find an article, and you need to know whether your A2 group can read it without drowning in vocabulary. Reading it through by eye takes ten minutes per text. This takes a click. How it works: Select text on a page, or paste your own into the popup. Choose the level of your group — A1, A2, B1, B2 or C1. The extension reports the estimated band, the share of words above your level, and average sentence length. Words above the level are listed so you can pre-teach them or swap the text. The estimate is based on word frequency and sentence length, using the New General Service List and the New Academic Word List (Browne, Culligan and Phillips, CC BY-SA 4.0). It is an estimate for planning, and it does not replace a published levelled reader. Everything runs on your machine. The extension makes no network requests, has no account, and collects nothing. Made by Nenta, the platform language centres in Vietnam use to run their classes.
