Easy for Hacker News
Overview
A clean, readable UI for Hacker News.
Easy for Hacker News redesigns news.ycombinator.com in place. There's no separate app, account, or paid tier. Open Hacker News and Easy takes over the page. What changes • Story lists: Top, New, Best, Ask, Show and Jobs, with the domain, score, author, age and comment count on every row. • Comment threads: comfortable line lengths, clear nesting and one-click collapse. • New comment markers: comments added since you last opened a thread get a dot in the margin. The “N new” button steps through them. • Voting and replies: sign in to Hacker News as usual to upvote and reply inline. • User profiles: About, Stories, Comments and Favorites, plus Upvoted and Hidden on your own profile. • Display settings: light, dark or system theme; sans or serif font; font size and density. Changes apply to every open HN tab. • Keyboard navigation: j / k to move, o or Enter to open, c for comments. How it works Easy reads the HTML Hacker News already sent to the page, then renders its own interface. It doesn't call a separate API or send the page through another server. Voting and replies use Hacker News's own links and forms with your existing session. Easy has no analytics, tracking or account of its own. Nothing is sent anywhere except Hacker News when you use its own features. Free and open source: https://github.com/harrisjose/easyhn
