Overview
Check how CanonIQ maps a hotel's rooms on the page you are on, and report what is wrong.
# CanonIQ Mapping Assistant in the Chrome Web Store Everything the Chrome Web Store developer dashboard asks for, ready to paste or upload. Publish it **Unlisted**: only people with the link can install it, and Chrome then installs updates by itself. ## Before the first submission - A Chrome Web Store developer account for CanonIQ (one-time fee of US$5), with a verified contact email. - The feedback service deployed (`deploy/hetzner3/README.md`): the extension talks to https://canoniqstudio.com/feedback, and the privacy policy is served at https://canoniqstudio.com/feedback/privacy. - In `privacy-policy.html`, replace `CONTACT_EMAIL` (twice) with CanonIQ's support address, then deploy. ## Package ```bash bash deploy/chrome-web-store/package.sh # ~/Downloads/canoniq-mapping-assistant-<version>.zip ``` Upload that zip under **Package**. Every later upload needs a higher `version` in `extension/manifest.json`. ## Store listing | Field | Value | |---|---| | Name | CanonIQ Mapping Assistant (from the manifest) | | Summary | Check how CanonIQ maps a hotel's rooms on the page you are on, and report what is wrong. It shows how CanonIQ grouped a hotel's rooms, right on the booking page you are on, and lets you report what is wrong. FIND ISSUES • Runs on the hotel page you are already on: the rooms and rates the page received from CanonIQ. • Flags likely duplicate room groups, a supplier's different rooms grouped together, rooms placed by inference, and rooms left unplaced. • The checks are rules that run in your browser. No AI model is called. UNDERSTAND WHY • Every supplier room in a group, with its rates: meal plan, cancellation, bed, view and smoking. • The rooms that caused an issue come first, with the reason. • Compare two room groups side by side. REPORT IT • An issue name, type, the rooms involved and your reasoning, filled in from the checks. • Add screenshots: capture the page, paste one, or upload a file. • Reports are sent once, even if the network drops, and go to CanonIQ's mapping team. FOLLOW UP • A case ID for every report, and its status as CanonIQ works on it: Sent, In Review, Resolved. REQUIREMENTS • A CanonIQ API key and portal login, both from the CanonIQ admin portal. They stay in your browser. • Works on travelogin.com out of the box. On another site that uses CanonIQ, open it, click the CanonIQ icon and choose Watch this site; Chrome asks you to allow that one site. PRIVACY The extension keeps the page's room-mapping calls in the tab's memory only. It sends to CanonIQ only what you analyse or report, and CanonIQ never stores prices, booking keys or traveller details. Privacy policy: https://canoniqstudio.com/feedback/privacy ``` ## Privacy practices tab **Single purpose:** ``` Lets customers of CanonIQ's hotel room-mapping API check how CanonIQ grouped a hotel's rooms on the booking page they are on, and report wrong groupings, with screenshots, to CanonIQ. ``` **Permission justifications:** | Permission | Justification | |---|---| | `sidePanel` | The extension's screens (issues, compare, report form, reports, settings) are shown in Chrome's side panel next to the booking page. | | `storage` | Keeps the user's settings (feedback service, CanonIQ API key, portal login), preferences, the sites they chose to watch, reports waiting to be sent, and the list of sent reports. | | `scripting` | Registers the capture scripts on a site only after the user chooses "Watch this site" for it, and injects them into that tab once, so the extension can read that site's room-mapping calls. | | `activeTab` | Reads the address of the tab where the user clicked the extension (to offer "Watch this site"), and captures a screenshot of that tab when the user presses "Capture page" for a report. | | Host `travelogin.com` | CanonIQ's customer whose booking pages the extension supports out of the box: the capture scripts read the page's room-mapping requests and answers. | | Host `canoniqstudio.com` | CanonIQ's feedback service, where the extension signs in, maps a request and sends reports. | | Host `127.0.0.1`, `localhost` | Lets CanonIQ's developers point the extension at a feedback service running on their own computer (Settings → Feedback service). | | Optional hosts `https://*/*`, `http://*/*` | Requested at run time for one site at a time, only when the user chooses "Watch this site", for other booking sites that use CanonIQ's API. Never requested at install. | **Remote code:** No. All JavaScript and the font are in the package. **Data usage**, check: - **Authentication information**: the CanonIQ API key and portal login, sent to CanonIQ's feedback service to sign in. - **Website content**: the page's room-mapping request when the user analyses it, and the user's reports with their screenshots. Then certify all three: not sold or transferred to third parties outside the approved use cases; not used or transferred for purposes unrelated to the single purpose; not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending. **Privacy policy URL:** https://canoniqstudio.com/feedback/privacy ## Images The screenshots show the real side panel (`extension/` at the commit that added them) against the local dev service: a stand-in booking page answers with `samples/` (prices and booking keys removed), and a fake dev customer sends the reports. They were captured with Playwright and composed at 1280×800 in CanonIQ's colours and Inter.
