Backbone Assistant

Ask the Backbone Assistant about your quality documents next to any page, and fill supplier questionnaires from them.

Backbone Assistant puts your Backbone AI assistant in the browser's side panel, so you can ask about your quality and food-safety documents without leaving the page you are working on: a supplier portal, a customer questionnaire, a specification. Ask what you would ask the assistant in Backbone. Answers come from your own documents, registers and standards, with citations. Select text on a page, right-click and choose "Ask Backbone about …". The panel opens with that text attached, so "What do we have on this?" is enough. The panel keeps your conversation as you switch tabs, and reopens it next time. Fill a supplier questionnaire on a customer's portal: Backbone lists the form's questions, drafts answers from your documents, and inserts the ones you approve into empty fields. You review the form and submit it yourself; Backbone never saves or submits it. Work on several questionnaires at once: the panel follows the tab you're on, and you switch between your forms from its title. Needs a Backbone account with the browser assistant switched on for your site. Sign in to Backbone in a browser tab; the panel uses that sign-in. Privacy: the extension reads a page only when you ask it to: by selecting text and choosing "Ask Backbone about …", by clicking the Backbone icon or choosing "Fill a questionnaire with Backbone" so the panel can check the page for a questionnaire, and on portals you allowed. From a questionnaire it reads only the structure of the form you choose to fill with "Fill with Backbone" (its questions, sections and answer options), never what is entered in it. There are two exceptions: an answer you type or change in a question the side panel lists, once you chose to fill the form, which it saves as your answer in Backbone; and a date the website fills in itself, which the side panel shows you. The first time you fill a form on a portal, your browser asks whether Backbone may read forms there without a click. You can allow or remove that access at any time from the side panel's ⋯ menu.
