Overview
Chrome extension which dynamically updates bookmarks based on the specified regular expression.
------------------------------------------------------------------ ❓ What is this about? Lately, I found myself wondering too much: "On what episode was I last on?", "What video in a playlist was I last watching?" and similar. So I decided to solve this problem by creating an extension where bookmarks can update themselves if a certain condition is met. This allows us to track: ✔️ anime / TV shows ✔️ videos in a YouTube playlist ✔️ last read blog / documentation page ✔️ etc. (basically ANYTHING with URL!) It also comes with its bookmark manager which lets you easily filter tracked bookmarks, edit the regular expression, etc. You can also view the history of the 10 most recent links for each dynamic (tracked) bookmark. To stop tracking a bookmark, just remove the regular expression (RegExp) from it. ------------------------------------------------------------------ 🎓 What is "regular expression"? It simply is a sequence of characters that define a search pattern. Ever did CTRL+F to find something on the page? Well, it's pretty much the same thing, but with extra special characters that let your search be more flexible. In most cases, you won't even have to worry about the RegExp field since the automatically generated value will be good enough, but you might run into rare occasions where the site will be using unique URL notation which would require manual entry of this field. An example of such a site is animekisa.tv. Let's see how we can generate regular expressions using a very simple tactic. First, let's click on few episodes: https://animekisa.tv/mo-dao-zu-shi-season-2-episode-3 https://animekisa.tv/mo-dao-zu-shi-season-2-episode-4 Now ask yourself, what part stays the same? - animekisa.tv/mo-dao-zu-shi-season-2 And that would be our value for the RegExp field! ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hopefully, by now you understood how to use this extension, but if that is not the case, a complete guide on how to use this extension with pictures and FAQ can be found here: https://github.com/DaniloNovakovic/chrome-dynamic-bookmarks/blob/master/README.md 🤔 If you have any additional ideas, requests, or if you encounter bugs, you can post an issue on GitHub page: https://github.com/DaniloNovakovic/chrome-dynamic-bookmarks/issues 💡🐛 ------------------------------------------------------------------ If you enjoyed this extension you can support me by giving it 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Is it possible to allow downloaded pdfs in conjunction with the Doqment plugin to be updated? I currently use the Doqment pdf reader plugin for the auto dark/light changing and for the Mozilla UI. I got dynamic bookmarks because I thought regex is just what I needed, but it didn't let me use a non https:// page like mine. The start of the page in the search bar is chrome-extension:// and then it is whatever the plugin generates with the address of the pdf on my computer. Fortunately, the Doqm... Show more

Not sure if it works on Yandex or if I don't know how to make it work. I tried bookmarking 3 site, non appear in the manager. - pls explain what it's supposed to do because I can't tell. - Is it supposed to save your progress ie last video watched of a channel on YouTube? Or more specific to me. Last study module I was on in my online course? Right now it appears as though it doesn't work for Yandex.

Hi Joshn, the goal of this extension is that it automatically updates bookmark based on given regural expression. I made this extension initially for myself, because when I read some documentation, or when I watch anime I never could remember last place I was on, so I made this extension so my bookmark can always point to last page I was in (that matches this regural expression) Now downside of regural expressions is that they are confusing and not very user friendly, so I also plan to make some kind of slider or some other easier way to generate them. When added through extension popup these bookmarks are added in "Other bookmarks" folder (or at least they should be - if this is not case for you then I assume there is bug), after which you can move them to any other bookmark folder you want. - I know this is annoying, so I will make some option to select folder immediately when creating dynamic bookmark through Popup. Sadly there is one issue - I am one guy, and this is kind of my hobby project so I am bit limited in terms of time and motivation, but hopefully I will make some time in future to add these things. Anyway, thanks for feedback, I will try to take it and improve! :)

Its exactly what I was looking for. I tried 4 or 5 extension before finding this one. One improvement that I would find helpful would be to let you chose where to save the bookmark, other than that its perfect, thanks.

Hi Virgil, I agree this is one of the most annoying problems of this extension and it is my top priority to add this option so that you can immediately chose destination folder in Popup instead of having to add it to "Other bookmarks" and then re-order it. Sadly this is my hobby project that I don't earn any money of, so I don't have much time or motivation to work on it, but I am starting to slowly come back to it, so I will try to make some time for this feature! Thanks for feedback! :)
