Overview
Watch one title together, each hearing a different audio language in their own headphones.
Two people, one film, two languages. DuoDub is for couples and families who love the same films in different languages. Pick something on Netflix, press play, and each of you hears it in your own language, in your own headphones, while you both watch the same picture. Anna hears English. Dima hears Russian. Nobody reads subtitles all evening, and nobody laughs a second late. How it works • Your computer runs two Chrome windows, one for each of you. You watch one. The other stays behind it and plays your partner's language. • DuoDub keeps the two windows together, so close you can't tell. Press play, pause or skip back in either window and the other one follows. • Each window plays through its own headphones. You find yours by ear: DuoDub plays a soft chime and asks "Hear it?" • When you start the next episode, the other window follows you there. Set it up once Setup takes about five minutes, once. DuoDub walks you through it with pictures: 1. Give your partner a Chrome window of their own. DuoDub shows you exactly where to click. 2. Open one link in that window. The two windows find each other. 3. Put on your headphones and listen for the chime. After that, every evening is: open Netflix, press play. What you need • Google Chrome on a computer. We test on a Mac. Windows is not tested yet. • A Netflix plan that lets two screens play at the same time, because both windows play the film. • A title that offers both of your languages in your country. • Two pairs of headphones, Bluetooth or wired. Or one pair, and the other person on the speakers. • DuoDub does not run on phones, tablets or TV apps. Price Free for 3 days, no card needed. After that, DuoDub is $9.99 once for founding supporters. One key covers both windows. You buy it on duodub.app, with checkout by Gumroad. Why Chrome asks about the microphone Chrome only shows a web page the names of your headphones after the microphone is allowed. So on Netflix, Chrome asks once. DuoDub asks only so those names appear, and switches the microphone off at once. Nothing is recorded, listened to or sent anywhere. What DuoDub does not do • It never records, copies, captures or re-sends the picture or the sound. • It never gets around copy protection. It presses Netflix's own play, pause and seek, picks each window's audio language, and tells Chrome which headphones each window plays through. That is all it does to the film. • No DuoDub account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. We sell nothing and share nothing. Your privacy, briefly Your two windows pass short notes to each other through a relay: play, pause, the time, which episode, the languages you chose, your Netflix profile names and your headphone names. Never the picture, never the sound. If you buy a key, it is checked with Gumroad, our store, about once a day. Everything, in plain words: https://duodub.app/privacy Small print Streaming services can change their players. When they do, DuoDub may stop working until we update it. DuoDub works with Netflix.
