Overview

Capture voice notes with real-time transcription. Send to GitHub Issues, Projects, Notion, or save as drafts.

Duly Noted - Capture Creativity Ever had a brilliant idea vanish before you could write it down? Duly Noted is a Chrome side panel extension that lets you capture voice notes instantly with real-time transcription, then route them wherever they need to go: GitHub Issues, GitHub Projects, Notion pages, or just save them as local drafts. It lives right in your browser sidebar so you never have to leave what you're working on. WHAT IT DOES Duly Noted turns your voice into organized, actionable notes in seconds. Click the toolbar icon or press Alt+Shift+V to open the side panel. Hit record, speak your thought, and watch it transcribe in real-time. When you're done, choose where to send it. That's it. Your idea is captured, categorized, and stored before you forget it. VOICE RECORDING AND TRANSCRIPTION Duly Noted uses the Web Speech API built into Chrome for fast, accurate speech-to-text conversion. There's no external service processing your audio - everything happens locally in your browser. You'll see your words appear as you speak them, with a live waveform animation and recording timer so you always know the extension is listening. Made a mistake? No problem. Every transcript is fully editable before you send it anywhere. Fix typos, rephrase sentences, or add context. The transcript is yours to shape before it leaves your browser. You can set a maximum recording duration in settings (default is 5 minutes) to keep your notes focused and concise. SEND TO GITHUB ISSUES If you're a developer, you know the pain of context-switching between coding and issue tracking. With Duly Noted, you can create a GitHub Issue without ever leaving your current tab. After recording, tap the GitHub Issue button, pick a repository from the dropdown (it shows all repos you have access to), review the title and body, and hit Create Issue. Done. Your voice note is now a tracked issue on GitHub, and a clickable link appears in your history so you can jump back to it anytime. Recently used repositories are cached at the top of the list so your most common workflows are always fast. SEND TO GITHUB PROJECTS Working with GitHub Projects for sprint planning or task management? Duly Noted lets you add voice notes directly as draft items in any GitHub Project. Select a repository, choose a project, review the content, and click Add to Project. Your idea is now part of your project board, ready to be prioritized and assigned during your next planning session. SEND TO NOTION Notion users can send voice notes straight to their workspace. Connect your Notion account through OAuth, and Duly Noted will automatically detect your accessible databases and pages. When you send a note to Notion, the first line of your transcript becomes the page title, and the full content becomes the page body. It's automatically formatted and ready to go. Links to created Notion pages appear in your history so you can open them with one click. To grant Duly Noted access to a Notion page or database, open the page in Notion, click the three-dot menu, select Add connections, and choose Duly Noted. SAVE AS DRAFT Not every idea needs to go somewhere right away. Save notes as local drafts and come back to them later. Drafts are stored in Chrome's local storage and persist across browser sessions. Use drafts as a scratchpad for ideas that aren't ready for a ticket yet, meeting notes you want to review, quick reminders to yourself, or thoughts you want to refine before sharing. HISTORY AND ORGANIZATION Every note you create is tracked in your history with timestamps, destination labels, and direct links. The main screen shows your recent notes at a glance, and the full history view lets you browse everything you've captured. Click any note in your history to open it - GitHub Issues open on GitHub, Notion pages open in Notion, and drafts display their full content. You always know where your notes ended up and can get back to them instantly. DESIGN AND EXPERIENCE Duly Noted features a dark glassmorphic interface with frosted-glass cards, subtle gradients, and smooth animations. The waveform visualizer pulses while you record. Toast notifications slide in with spring-eased timing. Everything feels polished and responsive. If you prefer a lighter look, Duly Noted automatically follows your system theme. Set your OS to light mode and the extension adapts. Accessibility was a priority from the start. Focus-visible outlines ensure keyboard navigation works well. Reduced-motion mode disables animations for users who prefer less movement. Text contrast ratios meet accessibility guidelines. PRIVACY AND SECURITY Your privacy matters. Here is exactly what Duly Noted does and does not do with your data: All voice processing happens locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in Web Speech API. No audio is sent to any external server. Your recordings never leave your machine. Voice note text and drafts are stored in Chrome's local storage on your device. They are never uploaded, synced, or shared unless you explicitly send them to GitHub or Notion. OAuth authentication is used for GitHub and Notion connections. Your tokens are stored in Chrome's sandboxed extension storage. Client secrets are handled by a secure Cloudflare Worker so they never touch your browser. There are no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, and no ads. Duly Noted does not collect any usage data. For full details, visit our privacy policy at dulynoted.xyz/privacy.html. KEYBOARD SHORTCUT Press Alt+Shift+V to instantly open the Duly Noted side panel from anywhere in Chrome. You can customize this shortcut in Chrome's extension keyboard shortcuts settings. BROWSER COMPATIBILITY Duly Noted works best on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Brave Browser requires disabling shields for the Web Speech API to function. Firefox and Safari are not supported due to limited Web Speech API support. GETTING STARTED Install Duly Noted from the Chrome Web Store Click the extension icon in your toolbar or press Alt+Shift+V Allow microphone access when prompted Click Start Recording and speak your note Click Stop and Send, then choose a destination Your note is saved and accessible from your history To connect GitHub or Notion, open Settings in the extension and click Sign in for the service you want to use. OAuth handles everything securely. OPEN SOURCE Duly Noted is open source and available on GitHub at github.com/DavinciDreams/duly-noted. Contributions, bug reports, and feature requests are welcome.
