Duckout: Hide Tabs for Screen Sharing – Decoy Page & Panic Button
Overview
One click hides your tabs or swaps in a decoy page. Stay private during screen shares and shoulder-surfing.
Someone walks up. One key, and the tab you were on is off your screen. Duckout does not close it. The tab stays open and running in a background window: your half-typed form, your logged-in session, your playing video — all still there. Press the same key and it comes back exactly where it was, in the same position in your tab strip. Nothing reloads. Nothing is lost. That is the whole difference. Other panic buttons close your tabs and reopen the URLs later, which is why their reviews are full of people who lost a form they were filling in — or lost the tabs altogether. Duckout never closes anything. WHAT YOU GET • One key hides the tab you're on. Press it again to bring everything back. • One key hides every tab in the window. • Optional blank decoy page where the tab used to be. • Hidden tabs are muted while they're away, and unmuted when they return. • Pinned tabs come back pinned. Tab order is preserved exactly. • Free, with no account and no sign-in. IT CANNOT READ YOUR PAGES Duckout asks for two permissions: tab access, to move tabs, and storage, for two settings. It requests no website access and installs no content scripts, so it has no way to see what is on the pages you visit. Check the permission list on chrome://extensions — there is nothing there about your site data. No analytics. No telemetry. No servers. No network requests at all. Nothing leaves your computer. WHAT IT IS FOR, HONESTLY Duckout is for shoulder-surfing: someone glancing at your screen in an office, a café, a classroom, a shared room. That is the job it does well. It does not hide anything from your network, your employer's IT or device management, your internet provider, or software installed on your computer, and it does not clear your history. If someone can inspect the machine or the network, Duckout does not help. Any extension telling you otherwise is not being straight with you. More is coming after launch.
