Dualtype — translate as you type

Live translation under the message box as you type, and the phrases you send become your review deck.

Type in your native language and see the foreign text update live as you go. Dualtype shows a live translation of the message you are writing right above the message box on WhatsApp Web. Dualtype shows a live translation of the message you are writing, right above the message box on WhatsApp Web. Click it (or press Tab) to send the translated version instead. Press Esc or click the × to dismiss it, or OFF to switch it off entirely. It is built for people learning a language, not just people who need a translation. Every phrase you send is saved to a personal deck and comes back on a spaced-repetition schedule — so your study material is made of sentences you actually needed in real conversations, not a generic word list. WHAT IT DOES • Live translation as you type, with a short pause before it fetches so it never flickers • Click or press Tab to replace what you typed with the translation • Dismiss with Esc or the × button; switch it off with OFF or Alt+Shift+D • Alternative phrasings when the engine offers them • Learner notes on formality and gender agreement when you use the Claude engine • Every sent phrase saved to a review deck, with CSV export for Anki • 22 languages, any direction — not just English to Spanish FIVE TRANSLATION ENGINES, YOUR CHOICE • MyMemory — free, no signup, works the moment you install it • LibreTranslate — run one on your own machine; no text leaves your computer • DeepL — the best raw quality for European languages • Claude — the only one that explains the choices it made • Google Cloud Translation — the widest language coverage PRIVACY There is no Dualtype server. Your settings, your API keys and your phrase deck stay in your browser. The text you type goes only to the translation engine you selected, and nowhere else. No analytics, no tracking, no ads, no account. The extension reads only the message box you are typing in. It does not read your received messages, your chat history or your contacts, it never sends messages for you, and it runs on web.whatsapp.com and nowhere else. Dualtype is an independent tool.
