Overview
Send links, text, images and files from your browser to your phone, other computers, a web inbox and Obsidian. Arrives in seconds.
dropit syncs what you choose across all your devices — your computers, your phone, any browser and Obsidian. Send a page, a link, text, images or files from the browser, and a few seconds later it's on your phone, on your other computers, in any browser through the web inbox, or in your Obsidian vault as a note. Send to your phone, send from PC to phone, share files between devices, send a tab or a link to your phone, send text to your phone to paste it there — file transfer between your devices without cables, email or chat apps as a go-between. Going the other way, phone to PC: send with the dropit iPhone shortcut and receive on the computer in the web inbox, Obsidian or the terminal. It isn't clipboard sync or folder sync: only what you choose to send goes, and nothing is sent until you do. WHAT YOU CAN SEND • A page — with its title and the author's summary, not a bare URL. Click the icon and press Enter. • Selected text — line breaks kept, with a link back to the page. Select it and press Alt+Shift+S. • An image — the file itself, so it still opens offline. Right-click → dropit → Send this image. • A PDF open in your browser — the file, not its link. • A link, or the file a link points to (PDF, ZIP, images, video, Office documents). • A video file playing on a page. Streaming sites such as YouTube have no single file, so those go as a link. • A screenshot or any file — paste it into the popup or choose files. A note and up to 10 files go as one. NOTHING TO CHOOSE No folders, no tags, no "send to whom". It goes to every device you've added. YOU ALWAYS KNOW WHETHER IT ARRIVED • A small notice at the top of the page: "dropit · Sent #71" — or, in red, why it bounced. • A dropped connection is tried twice more before it counts as failed. Offline never shows as sent. • Sending the same thing twice within a minute keeps one copy. • A file over your plan's limit is flagged before anything downloads. WHERE IT ARRIVES Every device you've added: the web inbox at dropit.smart-kits.xyz in any browser — on your phone, tablet or another computer — Obsidian (as notes, with images embedded), or the dropit terminal app on Mac and Linux. ACCOUNT AND PLANS A dropit account is required. Creating one is free and asks for no name, email or phone number. The free plan: 30 items a day, files up to 5 MB, items kept for 1 day, 3 devices. A paid plan raises the limits. WHAT IT READS Nothing until you send. When you do, it reads only that tab: its title, summary, address and the text you selected. It never reads your browsing history. A browser that joins with a pairing code gets a send-only key — if it ever leaked, it couldn't be used to read your items. The browser where you create the account holds the account's full key, so it can add your phone and other devices.
