The Mindanao region of the Philippines is rich with it's colorful and patterned textiles. The Maranaos are one of the many tribes in Mindanao with their iconic Sarimanok. Drew Europeo took an abstract twist in her artwork to represent them via the abstract patterns and color schemes that reminded her of the region and the sarimanok.
