Overview
Advanced download manager with parallel stream downloading, page media detection and resume support.
DownloadX – Accelerator DownloadX is a browser extension for Chrome, Edge, and compatible browsers that improves how you download files from the web. It speeds up large file transfers with parallel connections, saves HLS video streams as single playable MP4 files, and gives you a clean, modern interface for managing everything in one place. What It Does * Detects downloadable files and media on webpages, including (new!) HLS streams (.m3u8). * Downloads streaming video (many small segments) as one ordinary MP4 file that plays anywhere — QuickTime, VLC, Preview — with instant seeking. * Lets you pick the stream quality: a picker lists every detected resolution with estimated file sizes before the download starts. * Accelerates eligible large downloads using multiple parallel connections. * Supports pause and resume when the source server allows it. * Suggests readable filenames automatically, replacing cryptic server names (random IDs, machine-generated strings) with names derived from the page or URL — and every name is editable before the download starts. Core Features * Parallel Downloads: Splits supported files into multiple segments to improve transfer speed (server permitting), with per-stream progress bars. * Stream Capture (HLS → MP4): Saves supported video streams as a single progressive MP4 — no fragmented leftovers, no special player needed. * Smart Naming: Optional intelligent filename generation from the page title or URL, with the original name preserved for traceability. * Side Panel Manager: Live status band with an aggregate progress ring and real-time speed meter, per-file progress rings, All/Active/Done filters, and a pinned "Detected on this page" section that's always in view. * Toolbar Flyout: At-a-glance popup with overall progress, active downloads, and detected media — one click to download or jump into the side panel. * Auto-Clear History: Keep finished downloads for a chosen period — hours, days, forever, or clear automatically when the browser closes. * Resumable Transfers: Continue interrupted downloads after browser restarts or network disruptions, when supported. * Customizable Settings: Configure connection counts, size thresholds, detected file types, and history retention. * Browser Integration: Context menu actions, notifications, badge progress, and background processing. * Polished UI: Clean layout with full light and dark mode support, plus a shortcut to bypass acceleration for any single download. How It Works * Install the extension. * Browse normally — DownloadX detects supported files and media as pages load. * Start downloads from the side panel, the toolbar flyout, or the right-click menu. * For large files, choose acceleration when prompted; for streams, pick your quality and confirm the filename. * Monitor, pause, resume, or retry downloads as needed. Privacy * No personal data collection. * No tracking. * All processing happens locally in your browser. Limitations * Video detection and download are disabled on certain platforms, including YouTube and other restricted sites. * Acceleration and resume depend on server support; some streams (live, DRM/encrypted) are not supported.
