Download All Course Files for Canvas LMS
Overview
Download all course files from Canvas LMS in module order, even when the Files tab is hidden. Grabs only what is new.
Every week an instructor drops new slides into a Canvas module and you end up right-clicking twenty links one at a time. This extension does it in one pass: open the course, press Grab files, and everything hanging off the module timeline is saved in the order it is taught. Filenames carry that order, so the folder reads the way the course does — 01_Week 1 Intro/01_syllabus.pdf, then 02_Week 2 Regression/03_lecture-slides.pdf — instead of an alphabetical pile you have to re-sort by hand. It also works when the Files tab is switched off. Plenty of instructors hide it, and that is exactly the case where a plain file-list downloader hands you nothing. Here the Canvas module tree is the source, so hidden tab or not, you still get the readings, slides and handouts. Switch on deep scan and attachments buried inside page bodies and assignment descriptions come along too. Come back next week and tick "only new since last grab" to pull just the five files that were added, instead of downloading the whole term again. How to use 1. Open a Canvas course page while you are signed in. 2. Press Grab files in the page header. 3. Tick the modules or individual files you want, then press Download. What it does • Saves course files in module order with 01_ / 02_ numbering that matches the syllabus • Keeps working when the Files tab is hidden, because it reads the module tree • Optional deep scan pulls attachments out of page bodies and assignment descriptions • "Only new since last grab" mode for weekly top-ups, tracked per file, not per module position • Files your account cannot open stay in the list, greyed out with a locked badge, instead of vanishing • Files land in Downloads/course/01_module/ so a whole term stays organised • Runs entirely on your device using the session you are already signed in to — no account, no server, no sign-in • Add your school's own canvas.school.edu address from the popup when the course is not on instructure.com Only files your own account can already open are listed, so this stays inside your normal course access. File sizes shown in the panel are the estimates the platform reports.
