Don't Buy — Stop the Impulse How many times did you grab something on sale that ended up forgotten in a drawer? How many times did you keep going back to that one product you'd already decided not to buy, until one day you caved? Impulse buying isn't a lack of willpower — online stores are built to make you decide fast, with countdown timers, discounts, and giant "buy now" buttons. Don't Buy puts a brake right at that moment. It's a simple extension with a single mission: give you one second to think before you spend. How it works Every time you land on a product page, Don't Buy detects it and shows a quiet reminder. It doesn't block you or scold you — it just reminds you that you're about to buy, and asks whether you really need it. If you say you don't need it, it remembers. From then on, if you return to that product — or to a very similar one — it reminds you: "you already said you didn't need this." It shows you what the original product was and how closely it matches the one you're looking at now. What's included • Detection on the stores you use most — Amazon, eBay, MercadoLibre, and Steam have dedicated support to accurately recognize the product, price, and category. Plus generic detection for any other store that uses standard markup. • Similar-product recognition — It doesn't have to be the exact same item. If it resembles something you already dismissed, it warns you with a similarity score. • A brake at the cart — The cart is the peak impulse moment. When you get there, Don't Buy gently slows you down and highlights the products you'd already marked as unnecessary, so you can remove them before paying. • Visual block when you relapse — If you insist on something you already dismissed, it blurs the whole page to break the impulse. You can choose "See anyway," but a reminder bar stays pinned at the top while you browse. • Full per-site control — It's on by default. One click disables the extension on any site you want, and it remembers your choice. • Cross-device sync — Your "don't need it" and "need it" lists follow you across every browser where you're signed in. • Bilingual — Works in English and Spanish based on your browser's language. Privacy first Don't Buy sells nothing, shows no ads, and doesn't track your browsing. It sends no data to any external server: everything stays in your browser and syncs only through your Google account, like any other Chrome setting. Who it's for For anyone who wants to spend more consciously: if you're saving up, if you want to cut out boredom shopping, or if you're simply tired of regretting purchases after paying. Don't Buy doesn't forbid you from buying. It helps you buy what you actually want.
