Herbaceous plant, growing in clumps, about 1–2 m high. Large, elongated leaves, green tips, ribbed veins, bright green color. Long petioles, hugging the stem, arranged in thick clumps. Distribution: The tree is abundant in mountainous areas, along rivers and is commonly grown in Vietnam. Uses: Dong leaves are most commonly used to wrap Chung cake and Tet cake during Tet. In addition, the leaves can also be used to wrap sticky rice and ash cakes, helping to preserve the flavor and create a natural green color. In folk medicine, Dong leaves also have a massage effect, and can be used to make a cooling drink
