Overview
Find the cheapest prices and info for any domain name: aftermarkets, registrars, price history, keywords, DNS, and more.
View prices and info on the current domain name loaded in your browser. Open the extension popup while browsing any web page and it instantly identifies if the domain it is for sale, what it costs, and where the best deal is. The extension also determines if you're currently visiting a domain lander or marketplace listing, and queries the appropriate domain for details. ## Features - Aftermarket listings from every marketplace DomDB.com tracks, sorted by price, with the cheapest listing highlighted as a one-click "Buy" action. - Net price change since listing (as a percentage), and time on market. - "Make offer" and "Asking price" listings shown clearly alongside "Buy It Now" prices. - Registrar pricing for unregistered domains: registration and renewal prices from dozens of registrars, with the cheapest registration prominently displayed. - Promo codes shown as badges with their conditions — "Limit 1 per customer", "New Customer only" — in a popover next to each code. - Struck-through regular prices next to promo-reduced prices, so you can always view the discount from the original prices. - Aftermarket Price History: a per-platform chart of "Buy It Now" price changes over time, so you can see if the seller's price is rising, falling, or is brand new. This valuable tool can be used to help determine how motivated a seller is to offload their domain name. - Discover the domain's registry pricing tier: regular or premium. - Domain and label statistics: total length, label length, label category and character pattern. - Registered extensions: find the other TLDs/extensions that are registered for this domain's label, ranked by popularity. Very useful in determining keyword demand. - "Watch Price Drops" — jump straight to DomDB.com to get notified of new listings and price drops for the domain. - Manual domain entry: edit the detected domain in the popup header to look up details of any domain. ## Supported Aftermarkets Domain Hunter shows "Buy It Now" listings aggregated by DomDB.com from the major domain aftermarkets. Full list of supported aftermarkets: https://domdb.com/aftermarkets ## Detected domain sources - landers, forums, and marketplaces: When you are on a web page that lists a domain for sale, such as a lander or marketplace listing, Domain Hunter automatically determines the domain being offered from the URL or page itself. On forum threads, the domain is read from the seller's first post — even when the domain is written in an obfuscated form such as "example (.) com" or "example • com". # How It Works When you open the Domain Hunter popup, the extension determines the domain name from the current page: the page's address on ordinary websites, the domain being offered on marketplace and lander pages, or the first domain mentioned in the seller's post on supported forums. If detection is incorrect, you can edit the domain by hand in the popup's header. The domain name is then sent in a request to the DomDB.com, which returns all of the domain's relevant data. Additionally, DNS records are queried using public DNS-over-HTTPS resolvers — Google Public DNS (dns.google) and Cloudflare (cloudflare-dns.com) - to resolve the domain's DNS records (A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS, and more). These queries go directly from your browser to the public resolvers, the same as any DNS lookup you perform. Results are cached locally for a short time so repeat visits to the same domain are instant and do not generate repeat requests. No DomDB.com account is required for core features. Everything described above — buying information, price history, registrar pricing, registered extensions, and DNS — works out of the box without signing up for anything. All code in the extension is bundled at build time. Nothing is downloaded or evaluated from remote sources at runtime. # Privacy Domain Hunter is designed to reveal as little as possible: - Only the domain name is submitted to DomDB.com and Public DNS resolvers. A lookup request is only triggered only when the extension popup is opened — never in the background, never as you browse. - DomDB.com does not store the queried domain name. - DomDB.com logs the IP address of each lookup request for a maximum of 2 weeks, solely to prevent abuse of the API. - DNS queries for the DNS tab go to the public resolvers listed above and are subject only to their standard logging practices. - Your theme preference, a short-lived cache of recent lookups, and any manually entered domains are stored locally in your browser and never transmitted anywhere. - No browsing history, page content, or personal data is collected, sold, or shared with third parties.
