Overview

Choose how many words, over how long. Your .docx types into Google Docs at a human pace. Typed key by key, never pasted.

🚀 DocxPacer is the auto typer for Google Docs — it types your .docx draft into your Google Doc, keystroke by keystroke, at a pace you control, instead of one jarring bulk paste. You already wrote the content. DocxPacer handles the last mile: entering the document into your Doc while you do something else, and on Pro it carries your bold, italic and alignment across intact. ──────────────────────────────────────── ✨ KEY FEATURES ⌨️ Auto-Types Your .docx Into Google Docs Point at a Google Doc, drop in a Word file, and DocxPacer enters the text for you — no manual retyping, no giant copy-paste. 🎚️ Adjustable Typing Pace Variable WPM with sentence-level slowdowns and pauses around punctuation and between paragraphs, so the typing feels steady rather than mechanical. Set a target like "200 words in 40 minutes" or "60 WPM steady", configure WPM directly (15 to 150), set a hard maximum session duration, or schedule break time across a long session. DocxPacer plans the run in advance and shows the expected finish time. 🔄 Resume Typing Across Days Long document? Run a 30-minute session today, close the tab, return tomorrow. DocxPacer's Resume feature reads what's already in the Doc and continues from there — useful for long-form essays, dissertations, novels, and multi-day writing. The resume index is fuzzy-matched against the source .docx, so minor edits made between sessions don't break the continuation. 🪟 Background-Friendly Start the session and switch to another tab — DocxPacer keeps running. Close the panel and typing continues. Come back when it's done. The typing pipeline is decoupled from the panel UI: the panel is only a control surface, while the engine lives in the extension's background service worker and survives tab switches. 🔒 Your Document Stays On Your Device Your .docx is parsed locally inside Chrome and its contents are never uploaded — no document text, no file names, no Google Doc links ever leave your machine. DocxPacer collects optional, anonymous usage and crash data (turn it off anytime — see Privacy below), but that data never includes your document or your identity. Full technical details in our public privacy policy at docxpacer.xyz/privacy. ⚙️ One-Click Setup No account required for the free tier. No configuration. Open the panel, drop in your .docx, click Start. That's the whole setup flow — under 30 seconds from install to typing. 🌐 Available in 64 Languages DocxPacer is localized into 64 languages — including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Vietnamese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Thai, Indonesian, Filipino, and dozens more. Your install picks the locale automatically from your Chrome language settings. 💎 Full Formatting Fidelity — Pro On Free, DocxPacer types your document as plain text. Pro carries your formatting across from Word exactly as you wrote it: bold, italic, underline, alignment (left, center, right, justify), first-line indentation, headings, lists, and paragraph breaks. What you authored in Word arrives in Docs structurally identical — run-level transitions inside a paragraph are preserved too, so a bold word inside an italic sentence stays bold-inside-italic. ──────────────────────────────────────── 🎯 BUILT FOR ✓ Anyone moving a Word draft into Google Docs who would rather have it typed in gradually than dropped in as one bulk paste ✓ Accessibility — reducing the physical strain of long manual typing sessions for users with motor disabilities, RSI, carpal tunnel, or chronic pain ✓ Writers transferring a finished draft from Word or another editor into Google Docs ✓ Students importing essay drafts written in another tool (Word, Notion, Scrivener) into a Google Doc ✓ Researchers and analysts moving long-form notes from one tool to another at a deliberate, controllable pace ✓ Technical writers porting documentation from Word source files into a Google Workspace knowledge base ✓ Knowledge workers consolidating notes from multiple sources into a single shared Google Doc deliverable ──────────────────────────────────────── 📐 HOW IT WORKS — STEP BY STEP Step 1 — Prepare Your Draft Have your text in any source (Word, Notion, Scrivener, plain text editor, Markdown editor, etc.). Save or export it as a .docx file. If your source tool exports as something else, most modern editors can Save As Word (.docx). Step 2 — Open the Destination Google Doc Open your target Google Doc in Chrome. Click in the document where typing should start. DocxPacer types from the cursor position outward — an empty document, the bottom of an existing one, or an insertion point mid-document. Step 3 — Open DocxPacer Click the DocxPacer toolbar icon. The panel opens. Drop in your .docx using the file picker or drag-and-drop. The panel shows a preview of word count, estimated session length, and target end time. Step 4 — Set Your Pace Pick your pace using the slider: WPM (15 to 150), or target words-per-session, or a session duration (e.g., "60 minutes"). DocxPacer plans the rhythm in advance and shows the expected end timestamp. Step 5 — Click Start Watch progress live in the panel, or close the panel — typing continues in the background until done. Pause anytime. Stop and resume tomorrow if needed. A small bottom-right pill indicator on the Doc shows session status while running. ──────────────────────────────────────── 🔐 PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED DocxPacer requests the minimum permissions required for it to function, and each is justified below. → "Read and change data on docs.google.com" — DocxPacer needs this to send keystrokes into your active Google Docs tab. For the Resume feature, it also fetches the plain-text export of that one document so it can pick up where you left off (this follows a Google redirect to googleusercontent.com, requested only at runtime the first time you start typing; deny it and Resume falls back to a local checkpoint). It does not read or modify any other Google Workspace data — your Drive, Gmail, Calendar, and other Docs are not accessed. → "Storage" — your pace settings, the last .docx you loaded, and your Pro entitlement status are stored locally in your browser so you don't re-enter them every session. If you sign in for Pro, a login token is stored locally and sent only to docxpacer.xyz to verify your subscription — your document is never sent with it. → "activeTab" — DocxPacer acts on the Google Docs tab you're currently on so it can target keystrokes correctly. It does not read content from other tabs and does not track your browsing history. Optional, anonymous usage and crash reporting (see below) is the only data that leaves your browser, and you can turn it off. Full privacy policy: docxpacer.xyz/privacy. We earn revenue from the optional Pro tier — we have zero interest in monetizing your personal data or your documents, ever. ──────────────────────────────────────── 📊 ANONYMOUS USAGE DATA (OPT-OUT) To fix crashes and understand the broad flow (open panel → load file → start → finish), DocxPacer sends a small, fixed allowlist of anonymous events — things like a typing-speed bucket, Pro on/off, word counts, and durations — tagged to a random per-install id, never your account. It is processed through error tracking (Sentry) and product analytics (PostHog) behind our own server proxy. What is NEVER sent: your .docx contents, file names, Google Doc URLs, or your email. Turn it off anytime from the account menu ("Share usage data: Off") and anything not yet sent is dropped. ──────────────────────────────────────── 🚫 WHAT DOCXPACER DOES NOT DO ✗ Does not rewrite, summarize, or alter the content of your .docx — it types exactly what you wrote ✗ Does not upload, sell, share, or transmit your document to any external server ✗ Does not show ads, and never sells or rents your data ✗ Does not access any browser tab outside the active Google Docs session ✗ Does not require an account for the free tier ✗ Does not silently subscribe you to anything ✗ Does not need the network to type — the core typing engine works fully offline ──────────────────────────────────────── 💰 PRICING 🆓 Free — unlimited use, no daily limits, types at the pace you choose, resume across days, runs on your device, no credit card required, no account required for basic install. Free types your document as plain text. 💎 Pro — full formatting fidelity: bold, italic, underline, headings, lists, and alignment carried across from your Word file exactly as you wrote them. • Pro Weekly — $1.99 per week, cancel anytime in one click • Pro Monthly — $4.99 per month, priority email support • Pro Lifetime — $79 paid once, own it forever with all future updates included (launch offer, first 100 customers) No dark patterns. No surprise renewals. One-click cancel from the Customer Portal at any time. The Pro tier is your way of supporting an independent developer building privacy-respecting software. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments as the Merchant of Record — taxes, invoicing, and regional pricing are handled automatically. ──────────────────────────────────────── 🆕 RECENT UPDATES → v1.0.11 — Anonymous, opt-out usage and crash reporting to catch bugs faster; refreshed Web Store listing → v1.0.9 — Slimmer install: a single-line docs.google.com permission warning; Resume's extra origin is now requested only at runtime → v1.0.8 — Update-stability fix (the extension no longer disables itself on update) → v1.0.7 — Customer Portal integration, expanded language support → v1.0.6 — Pro tier launch with Weekly, Monthly, and Lifetime pricing → v1.0.x — Continuous improvements to the typing pace engine and resume detection ──────────────────────────────────────── ❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Does DocxPacer work with Microsoft Word Online? A: Not currently. DocxPacer is built specifically for Google Docs. Word Online support is on the roadmap and under evaluation. Q: Can I pause and resume a long typing session? A: Yes. Stop anytime, close the tab, return later. Resume continues from where you stopped, even on a different day. Q: Does DocxPacer change my content? A: No — the text that lands in Google Docs is exactly the text in your .docx, every word, every comma. Q: Is my .docx uploaded anywhere? A: No. Your .docx is parsed inside your Chrome browser and its contents are never transmitted externally. Q: What WPM speeds are supported? A: From slow deliberate pacing (around 15 WPM) up to fast natural typing (around 150 WPM). You set the target. Q: Can I cancel my Pro subscription? A: Yes, anytime in one click through the Customer Portal. No questions asked, no retention dark patterns. Q: What happens to my data if I uninstall? A: All local storage is removed when you uninstall. The anonymous usage id is random and tied to the install, not to you, so there is no account to delete. Q: Does the Pro tier require an account? A: A simple Google Sign-In is used to associate your Pro entitlement with your email. No password, no profile, no extra data. Q: Is there a refund policy? A: Yes. If DocxPacer doesn't work for you within the first 7 days, email kimindiehacker@gmail.com for a full refund. Q: Does DocxPacer work offline? A: The core typing engine works fully offline. Only the Pro entitlement check and the optional anonymous usage reporting need connectivity. Q: What's the difference between Free and Pro? A: Free types your document as plain text at the pace you choose, with no daily limits — resume and background typing included. Pro carries your Word formatting across: bold, italic, headings, lists, and alignment. Q: How does the Lifetime tier work? A: You pay $79 once and own DocxPacer Pro forever, including all future updates. Limited to the first 100 customers. ──────────────────────────────────────── 🛠️ TECHNICAL DETAILS → Built on Chrome Manifest V3 — modern, secure, and forward-compatible → Around 150 KB extension size including 64 locales and four icon variants → Vanilla JavaScript with JSDoc — no bundler, easily auditable → Service worker background — survives tab closures → Content script injected only on docs.google.com → Storage uses chrome.storage.local — never IndexedDB or external databases ──────────────────────────────────────── 💬 SUPPORT Need help, hit a bug, or want a feature?
