Overview

Set and track writing goals in Google Docs

DocGress is a lightweight Chrome extension that brings writing goal tracking directly into Google Docs. Whether you're working toward a daily word count, hitting a character limit, or structuring your writing by paragraphs, DocGress keeps your targets visible and your progress in check without ever leaving your document. Set Goals That Matter to You: Create up to 5 custom writing goals per document, choosing from four metrics: words, sentences, characters, and paragraphs. Give each goal a name and a target, and DocGress will start tracking immediately. Live Progress, Right in the Page: A sleek floating bar sits at the bottom of your screen and updates in real time as you write, showing your current count against each goal at a glance. No need to open a sidebar or leave your document; your progress is always visible. Per-Document Goal Tracking: Goals are saved individually per document, so your novel draft, essay, and work report each have their own independent set of targets. Everything is stored locally on your device and your writing data never leaves your browser.
