Doc Replay

Replay how a Google Doc was written, for documents a student has shared with the teacher. Runs entirely in the browser.

Doc Replay lets a teacher watch how a student's Google Doc was written, from a blank page to the finished piece. Open a document you can edit, click Replay writing, and you get: - A replay of the writing, with headings, bold, italics and lists as they appeared. Play at 1x up to 250x, and long idle gaps are skipped. - Typed and pasted text in different colours, plus a chart of how the document grew, so a big paste stands out. - Hover over any passage to see who wrote it and when. Click it to jump to that moment. - Deleted text shown crossed out, and a search for the moment a phrase first appeared. - A PDF summary you can keep: time span, writing sessions, how much was typed and pasted, and the large pastes. - Names for editors (Student, Me) that Doc Replay remembers. A paste does not prove a student copied something. Students often draft in another app first. Doc Replay is meant to start a conversation, not to settle one. Your documents stay private. Doc Replay reads the edit history that Google Docs already shows you, using your own sign-in, and works it out in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or sent to anyone. There are no ads and no tracking. It only works on documents you can edit, because Google only shares edit history with editors. It is free. If it saves you time, there is an optional tip link.
