BackTrue: Back Button Trap Blocker

Stops sites from stuffing fake entries into your tab history so the Back button actually takes you back.

You press Back and nothing happens. Or the same page reloads. Or an ad appears instead of the search results you came from. That is a back button trap: the page quietly added fake entries to your tab's history so that Back leads to the site again instead of away from it. BackTrue stops it. Install it and the Back button goes back to being a Back button. WHAT YOU GET - One press of Back leaves the page, the way it should. - No more hammering Back or long-pressing it to find the page you came from. - Web apps you rely on keep working, because pages you open by clicking still get their own history entry. - Nothing to set up. HOW IT WORKS A real navigation happens because you clicked, tapped or pressed a key. A trap adds history entries on its own: when the page loads, on a timer, while you scroll, or many at once. BackTrue checks every entry a page tries to add. If you did not ask for it, the entry is folded into the current one, so the address still updates and the page keeps working, but Back is not hijacked. FEATURES - Blocks fake history entries added with pushState or by changing the address hash, in the page and in embedded ad frames. - Blocks forward bounces, where a page pushes you forward again the moment you go back. - Blocks redirects that fire when you press Back out of a duplicate entry. - Three modes per site: Smart (the default), Strict (the site can never add history entries) and Paused (for sites you trust). - A counter on the toolbar icon shows how many traps were blocked on the current page. - An activity page lists which sites tried most, kept only on your device and erasable in one click. HONEST LIMITS In Smart mode a page may still add an entry in direct response to your click, because that is how normal web apps navigate. If a site abuses that, switch it to Strict from the popup.
