Website Blocker
Overview
Block websites behind a difficult challenge making self-bypass hard. No data whatsoever, analytics, or telemetry leaves your device.
Website Blocker is a self-commitment tool that blocks distracting or harmful websites directly in your browser -- with a twist: the block list is protected by a randomly generated 4000-character challenge that must be typed exactly to access it. This is not a parental control tool. It is designed for adults who want to make impulsive bypassing of their own rules genuinely difficult. There is no password to forget, no PIN to guess, and no quick way around it. If you want to visit a blocked site, you have to earn it. HOW IT WORKS When you visit a blocked domain, you see a plain black screen with the message "Website is Blocked." No ads, no suggestions, no redirects -- just a clear signal that you set a boundary and it is holding. To view or edit the block list, open the extension settings. A fresh 4000-character random string is generated every time. You must type it back exactly -- character for character — before the list is shown. A single mistake generates a new challenge. This makes impulsive self-bypassing inconvenient enough to break the habit loop. FEATURES • Block any domain -- one domain per line, subdomains blocked automatically • Challenge gate -- random 4000-character string regenerated on every access attempt • Works immediately -- blocking is active as soon as you save your list • Blocking persists -- sites remain blocked even after restarting your browser • Supports up to 30,000 domains PRIVACY No data ever leaves your device. The extension has no network requests, no analytics, no tracking, and no remote configuration. Your block list is stored locally in your browser and is never transmitted anywhere. PERMISSIONS • Read and change all your data on all websites -- required to intercept navigation to blocked domains and show the block page • Storage -- required to save your domain list locally on your device USE CASES • Blocking social media during work hours • Keeping yourself off news and doomscrolling sites • Removing access to online shopping during a spending fast • Any situation where you want friction between impulse and action
