Auto Tab Sleep puts the tabs you aren't using to sleep, so Chrome uses less memory and your computer has more left for everything else. It works on its own: install it and keep browsing. A sleeping tab stays in your tab strip but frees its memory. Click it and it reloads. WHAT YOU SEE • How many tabs are awake, against a budget you set. The toolbar icon shows the count too. • Memory and CPU in use, with a chart of the last few hours • Awake tabs, least recently used first, each with a Sleep button • Tabs open more than once, with a button to close the extras • Sites with several tabs awake AUTO-SLEEP Auto-sleep is on from the start. A tab goes to sleep once you haven't looked at it, and it hasn't played sound, for 10 minutes. You can change the time, or turn auto-sleep off, in the popup or in settings. Nothing goes to sleep during the first 10 minutes after you install Auto Tab Sleep. These never go to sleep: • the tab you're on • pinned tabs • tabs playing sound • sites on your never-sleep list. Video-call sites (Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Whereby) are on it to start with, because a call can go quiet for a long time. GOOD TO KNOW When a sleeping tab reloads, anything you typed that the site hadn't saved yet can be lost. If you keep drafts open on a site, add it to the never-sleep list. PRIVACY Auto Tab Sleep has no servers and sends nothing anywhere. It reads your open tabs' titles and addresses to show them in the popup, and keeps its settings and a 24-hour memory and CPU history on your computer.
