Amie

Overview
Your private on-device AI assistant powered by Gemini Nano
What's new? • Voice mode: have a spoken conversation with Amie, all on-device. • Translate any selection to English right from the right-click menu. • Discuss screenshots: capture the visible page or drag-select a region, then ask Amie about it. About Amie Amie is a private AI assistant that lives in Chrome's side panel. It runs on Gemini Nano, the AI model built into Chrome, so everything happens locally on your device. There's no account, no cloud sync, and no data ever leaves your browser. The manifest blocks it at the browser level. What you can do with Amie: • Chat in the side panel. Ask questions, brainstorm, draft messages, or get explanations. Follow-up suggestions appear after each reply, and long chats stay coherent because older turns are summarised on-device. • Attach images. Paste, drag, or attach up to four images per message and discuss them. Thumbnails persist across reloads; click any image for a full-size view with copy and save options. • Capture and discuss what's on screen. Right-click any page to capture the visible view, or drag-select a region, then ask Amie about it. • Summarise, explain, translate, or fix grammar. Right-click selected text, or a whole page, for one-click actions. • Talk to Amie. Voice mode lets you have a spoken conversation with on-device transcription and speech. • Search past chats. Type anything you've sent or received and jump straight to the message. • Pin replies worth remembering. Amie carries them into future chats so you don't repeat yourself. • Export. Save any chat, or all of them, as plain text or markdown. • Customise. Eight colour themes, three response styles (Focused, Balanced, Creative), and light/dark/auto appearance. Open Amie from anywhere with Ctrl+Shift+K (Cmd+Shift+K on Mac). Works offline once Gemini Nano is installed. The Translate action needs an internet connection the first time you use a particular source language so Chrome can download that language's translation model. After that it works offline too. Requirements • Chrome 138 or later. 148+ recommended for image input. • Windows 10/11, macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, Linux, or ChromeOS (Platform 16389+) on Chromebook Plus. • At least 16 GB RAM (or more than 4 GB of VRAM) and a 4-core CPU. • About 4.3 GB of free disk space for the one-time Gemini Nano download.
