Disemb-Arc
Overview
Turn your Chrome bookmarks bar into a drag-and-drop new tab page, in four switchable layouts
WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION • Four switchable layouts: Broadsheet, Shelf, Mosaic and Spotlight • Drag anything anywhere: reorder in a card, move between cards, drop into a folder, reorder whole groups • Bookmarks now open in the current tab (Cmd/Ctrl-click for a new one) • Bookmarks loose on your bar finally show up, in their own group • Fixed: edits made in Chrome are no longer reverted, and deletes now stick Your Chrome bookmarks bar, turned into a new tab page you actually want to look at. Disemb-Arc does not keep its own copy of your bookmarks. Each top-level folder on your bookmarks bar becomes a card. Edit here and Chrome updates instantly; edit in Chrome and this updates instantly. There is only ever one copy, so the two can never drift apart. FOUR LAYOUTS, SWITCHABLE ANY TIME • Broadsheet - dense masonry cards, every link visible at once, folders expand in place • Shelf - one column per group, board style, with folder chips you can drill into • Mosaic - large favicon tiles for recognising sites at a glance • Spotlight - one group open at full size, the rest compressed to a spine rail BUILT AROUND DRAG AND DROP • Reorder bookmarks inside a card • Drag between cards to move a bookmark to another group • Drop straight onto a folder to file it away • Drag a card header to reorder whole groups on your bookmarks bar • The same gestures work in every layout EVERYTHING ELSE • Arc Browser import - bring in your Spaces from StorableSidebar.json, colors and folder structure intact. Re-import any time without creating duplicates • Standard import - HTML bookmark files from Chrome, Firefox, Safari and others • Color-coded groups - one accent per group, and your choices follow your Chrome profile to your other machines • Nested folders - any depth, with expand and collapse controls • Light and dark - follows your system setting • Deliberate deletion - removing a group deletes real Chrome bookmarks, so it asks for a press-and-hold rather than a single click GETTING STARTED 1. Install the extension and open a new tab. Your bookmarks bar is already there. 2. Pick a layout from the switcher at the top. 3. Drag things around. Every change is a real Chrome bookmark change. 4. Coming from Arc? Click Import and select your StorableSidebar.json PRIVACY FIRST No accounts, no tracking, no external servers. Your bookmarks stay in Chrome, where they already were. The only thing stored separately is which layout you prefer and your group colors.
