Discardly – Native Tab Sleeper
Overview
Free up memory by putting idle tabs to sleep with Chrome's built-in tab discarding. Tabs and URLs stay exactly where they are.
Dozens of tabs open and Chrome is crawling? Discardly puts the tabs you aren't using to sleep, so they stop using memory and CPU. Click a sleeping tab and it loads again. SAFE BY DESIGN Discardly uses Chrome's native tab discarding. Unlike older suspenders, it never replaces your pages with a placeholder page, so a tab's URL can't be lost, even if you uninstall the extension. Sleeping tabs keep their title, icon and position in the tab strip. FEATURES • Auto-sleep tabs you haven't used for a set time (1 minute to 24 hours) • Never sleeps the tab you're viewing, pinned tabs, or tabs playing audio • Allow-list: sites that should never sleep (subdomains included) • Keep a tab or a whole window awake from the popup • One click: sleep this tab, sleep other tabs, or sleep the whole window • Keyboard shortcuts: Alt+Shift+S (this tab), Alt+Shift+O (others), Alt+Shift+W (window), Alt+Shift+K (keep awake). You can change them in chrome://extensions/shortcuts. • Simple stats: tabs asleep now, today and all time PRIVATE • No network requests, no analytics, no account • Settings are stored only on your device Note: Chrome may reload a sleeping page when you return to it. Pages that warn about unsaved changes may lose text you haven't submitted. Keep such tabs awake, or add the site to the allow-list.
