Worked but need to go to the options and click the first four check boxes as mentioned below.

I thought it didn't work, until I found the settings (extension options) page. After ticking the first four check boxes, it worked perfectly.

THANK YOU! I have a MacBook and while I can use the slider within YouTube to turn off autoplay, this only stops the NEXT video from playing. This extension prevents open tabs with videos from playing when I restart chrome, refresh the tab, etc ... It won't play unless I click on it (just a black screen). Checking the 2nd option removes the black screen and the video will still be paused (but buffering). Also, read the instructions on this extension about preventing other unwanted behavior... There are options for this extension, uncheck the second one and you won't get a black screen!
