ReadMe
Overview
Turn any text on the web into audio
Read any web text aloud, directly on your computer. ReadMe turns articles, selected snippets, and page elements into audio, with synchronized highlighting of the sentence currently being spoken. **TRUE PRIVACY** No server, no API key, no account. Speech comes from your system voices or neural voices that run directly inside the extension: your text never leaves your machine. Only the model files are downloaded, once, and then everything works offline. **LOCAL NEURAL VOICES** * **Kokoro 82M** — 17 voices in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Hindi * **Supertonic 3** — 31 languages, 10 voice styles * **System Voice** — uses any local voice already installed on your computer Favorite your preferred voices, adjust playback speed in real time (without changing the pitch), and monitor inference through WebGPU or WASM. **CAPTURE FROM ANYWHERE** * **"Read Page"** captures the entire article with one click * **"Select Element"** captures exactly the block you click * Text selection and the context menu also work * Captures from different pages accumulate in the same buffer — build your own listening queue **ON-DEVICE TRANSLATION** Translate captured blocks into your preferred language and listen using a voice in that language. Translation runs locally through Chrome's Translator API. **LIBRARY AND AUDIO** Save texts, EPUB chapters, and PDF pages to your library, organize them into folders, and resume reading where you left off. Export any document as an MP3 to listen wherever you want. Speech continues even when the panel is closed — ReadMe reads while you work, cook, or walk.
