What we collect/send when you use the extension: - When you click “Save” (or use the shortcut), we send the current page URL (and page title) to ReadingNotes.ai so it can be imported into your library. - On supported social sites (e.g., X/Twitter and LinkedIn), if you choose to save a post, we may also send the post text you’re saving so it can be stored correctly. What we do NOT do: - We do not read or store your browser cookies (this extension does not request the cookies permission). - We do not sell your data. - We do not transmit page content in the background without you initiating a save action. Local storage: - The extension stores your ReadingNotes.ai login token in Chrome storage so you don’t have to log in every time. - The extension may store small preference/settings values (e.g., save behavior) to improve your experience. ================================================ CHROME PERMISSION USAGE DISCLOSURE This Chrome extension requires the following permissions: 1) activeTab - Used to access the currently active tab ONLY when you initiate an action (e.g., clicking “Save” or using the keyboard shortcut). - Needed to read the current tab’s URL/title and (where applicable) extract content for saving. 2) storage - Used to securely store your ReadingNotes.ai authentication token and extension settings in Chrome local storage so you stay logged in. 3) notifications - Used to show notifications like “Saved”, “Saving…”, “Processing started”, or “Error” after you save content. ================================================ HOST PERMISSIONS DISCLOSURE This extension connects to: - https://api.readingnotes.ai/* (to save content to your ReadingNotes.ai account) - http://localhost:8000/* (used for local development/testing) If you are publishing a production build, it’s recommended to remove the localhost host permission. ================================================ CONTENT SCRIPT DISCLOSURE This extension injects lightweight scripts on pages you visit to enable saving flows and richer capture on supported sites (such as X/Twitter and LinkedIn). These scripts do not transmit page content unless you explicitly initiate a save action. ================================================ ABOUT THIS EXTENSION ReadingNotes.ai Chrome Extension helps you capture your “reading trail” effortlessly: - Save any article or webpage to ReadingNotes.ai in one click - Save X/Twitter posts and LinkedIn posts as text (supported sites) - Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+S (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+S (Mac) - Notifications to confirm saved/processing/error states Requirement: - Requires a ReadingNotes.ai account (sign up/login inside the extension).
