Overview

Save and restore reading progress on developer documentation and long technical pages.

Doc Progress Tracker helps you keep track of your reading progress on developer documentation and long technical pages. You can save where you stopped reading, return to the same position later, view your progress across indexed pages, and manage your reading data from the extension. The extension is designed for selected developer documentation sites and also includes experimental support for documentation sites with common sidebar and article layouts. Because many sites customize or change their structure, compatibility may vary. Features: Create, rebuild, and manage indexes for compatible documentation sites Save reading progress based on the article sections that enter the viewport Restore your previous reading position when you return View overall progress in the page sidebar Show per-page progress badges in compatible navigation menus Use an optional right-side reading map for viewed sections Pause or resume progress recording for a page Turn progress tracking on or off for an indexed site Choose whether new pages should record progress by default Delete progress for a page, a site, or all indexed sites Resume an interrupted indexing run when the saved page list still matches Export and import local indexes, with an option to include reading progress Manage multiple documentation sections under the same website Choose from 12 interface languages for extension pages and injected reading UI Optionally log in to access server-index features enabled for your account Pull an available index from the server instead of indexing every page locally Upload a local index and its reading progress when server synchronization is enabled for your account Privacy: Indexes, settings, and reading progress are stored locally in your browser by default. The extension uses page URLs, page titles, page heights, visible reading ranges, and reading positions to calculate and restore your progress. The extension does not upload page content, sell your data, or use your reading data for advertising. Account and server-index features are optional. If you choose to log in, your login information is sent securely to the Doc Progress Tracker service for authentication, and the returned account session is stored in extension storage. If you explicitly upload an index, its site information, page URLs and titles, settings, and reading progress are sent to the service. Pulling a server index downloads it to your browser and may replace the corresponding local index after confirmation. You can continue using local indexing and progress tracking without logging in. This is an early version. More site compatibility improvements and progress-tracking features will be added over time.
