DesmosVarTools
Overview
Rename variables in the Desmos graphing calculator, with dry-run preview and one-level undo.
Rename, refactor, and understand your Desmos variables — safely and seemlessly. It adds a small, unobtrusive panel to desmos.com/calculator and desmos.com/3d with six tools: [Rename] — Change a variable everywhere it's used, as one safe operation. You always see an exact before/after preview of every affected expression before anything is written, and one-level Undo (plus Desmos's own Ctrl+Z) has your back. [Find] — List every expression that uses a variable, and click to jump straight to it. [Extract] — Turn a reoccurring number like 9.81 into a named constant everywhere it appears. [Folder] — Namespace an entire folder's variables at once by adding a suffix, references included. [Graph] — An interactive, force-directed dependency graph of your whole system, with cycles highlighted in red. Pan, zoom, click to jump. [Cascade] — Want a → b but b already exists? Move the existing b safely out of the way (to b_{old}) first, then rename — in one guided step. [Analyze] — Surface unused variables, duplicate definitions, and circular definitions (shown as readable chains like a → b → a). Export a full variable map as Markdown. And decouple regressions: turn a solved regression's fitted parameters into plain assignments and disable the original — no more silent refits. Private by design. No permissions requested. No data collected, stored, or transmitted. No network calls, no analytics, no remote code — everything runs locally on the page, and your graph never leaves your browser. Fully open source (MIT). Perfect for anyone building anything nontrivial in Desmos: physics simulations, parametric art, regressions, or any graph that's grown past the point where renaming by hand is safe.
