Demonstrasaurus Rex turns any website into a click-through walkthrough — for free, with no account, and no data leaving your browser. Snapshot each step on demand, add hotspots and captions on top of your screenshots, and export the whole flow as a single self-contained HTML file. Share it by email, Slack, Drive — anywhere a file can go. Recipients view it offline; no link, no hosting, no server. WHY USE IT • 100% free. No paywall, no upgrade prompt, no premium tier. Every feature in this listing is available the moment you install. • No account. Nothing to sign up for, no email required. • Local-only. Screenshots, URLs, and any text you typed during a recording stay in your browser's IndexedDB. Nothing is uploaded. Click "Delete all data" in the popup footer to wipe everything at any time. • Self-contained exports. The HTML file you export has zero network dependencies. Hosting is not required. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open the page you want to capture and click Start Recording. 2. Click around like you normally would. 3. When you reach a state worth saving, press Alt+Shift+S anywhere on the page (rebindable at chrome://extensions/shortcuts), or click the extension icon and press 📸 Capture Step. A screenshot is saved with a hotspot at your last click. 4. Repeat for every step. The keyboard shortcut keeps hover-only menus (nav dropdowns, tooltips) open at the moment of capture. 5. When you're done, click Stop & Open Editor. 6. In the editor: edit captions, drag hotspots, swap colors and shapes, add Back/Next buttons inside captions, reorder steps, insert manual steps from an image file. 7. Click Export HTML to download one self-contained file. FEATURES • Manual-capture model — you control every screenshot.
