Turn videos into illustrated notes, so useful content is ready when you need it instead of gathering dust in your bookmarks. DeepVid is a browser extension for the DeepVid desktop app. When you find a video you want to learn from, research, or save, send it to DeepVid on this computer to start a video digest, generate notes, and save them to your personal knowledge library. Start a video digest from your browser. • Turn courses, tutorials, interviews, and other videos into material you can revisit, search, and reuse. • Check progress, read notes, and manage them in one desktop app. With the DeepVid desktop app, you can also: ▍Read illustrated notes, chapter overviews, and mind maps Combine notes with key video frames, browse content by chapter, and use mind maps to follow its structure. Make it easier to understand and review what you watched. ▍Ask AI about the video Ask follow-up questions while reading. Let AI explain difficult points and organize ideas based on the video’s content. ▍Keep reading on your phone Enable local network access and scan the QR code from a phone on the same network to browse your library. Add the reading page to your phone’s home screen for easy access. ▍Connect your knowledge library to AI tools Use MCP to connect DeepVid to Codex, Claude Code, and other MCP-compatible AI tools. Let agents search your library, read existing notes, or start new audio and video digests. ▍Export to Obsidian Export illustrated Markdown notes, with an export option suited to Obsidian. Extension features • Send the current video link and title to the desktop app to start a digest. • Quickly send a webpage or link from the context menu. • Optionally authorize your YouTube session when needed and pass it to the local desktop app. • Choose from English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, and Korean, with light and dark themes. Getting started 1. Install and open DeepVid for macOS or Windows. 2. Follow the desktop app’s prompts to set up the video component, speech recognition, and AI model. 3. Open a supported video page and send its link through the extension. 4. Check progress and read the generated notes in the desktop app. Privacy and authorization Ordinary sending passes only your selected link and title to the local desktop app. YouTube cookies are read only after you explicitly authorize the session and grant the required permissions. They are passed to the local app, not uploaded to developer servers. When you use online models, related media or transcript content may be sent to your configured model service. Requirements This extension requires the desktop app and cannot generate notes on its own. Some advanced features require the corresponding desktop license, and online model services may charge fees. Supported content, processing speed, and results depend on platform rules, network conditions, and model settings. Only process content you have the right to access and use.
