Deep Focus - Content Censor
Overview
Censors distracting content on YouTube, Instagram and Twitter (X). Toggle on/off with a customizable shortcut.
Deep Focus - Content Censor Social media platforms are engineered to hijack your attention — autoplay videos, clickbait thumbnails, and endless recommendation feeds keep you scrolling when you should be working. Deep Focus fights back. This extension instantly censors all distracting visual content on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter (X) by applying blur and grayscale filters to thumbnails, titles, avatars, and media. You browse the platform but the platform can't grab your eyes. What gets censored: - Thumbnails, video previews, images, and stories → blurred + grayscale - Video titles, usernames, captions, and comments → hidden behind dark overlays - Channel avatars, profile pictures, and metadata → blurred out - Hover autoplay and inline video previews → completely blocked How to use: Press Shift+S (customizable) to toggle censorship on or off at any time. The shortcut is smart, it won't trigger while you're typing in search bars or text fields. Why install Deep Focus? - Stop falling into recommendation rabbit holes - Stay focused while researching or working on social media - Browse intentionally, not impulsively - Reduce digital overstimulation and mindless scrolling Privacy-first: Zero data collection. No external connections. No tracking. The extension works entirely offline using CSS filters and minimal JavaScript. It's lightweight, fast, and open source. Built for students, remote workers, researchers, and anyone tired of losing hours to algorithmic distractions.
