DeArrow - Better Titles and Thumbnails

The developer of DeArrow is so sweet! After adding the extension a window popped up asking to pay $1, but none of the payment options worked for me. So the extension gave me free unlimited access. This is not a paid extension, the developer is simply asking for donations and that is perfectly fine! Watching the video the developer made on DeArrow, you can tell this is a kind, sweet individual who's spending his time and effort to give something to all of us for FREE. Good idea but too aggressive. I'd use if there was some kind of tier system that makes submitters specify how clickbaity the thumbnail/title they're replacing were, so that way people could choose what level to filter out. Even the examples on the DeArrow website, which I imagine were cherry picked, have some perfectly good titles and thumbnails that got replaced for no reason. Unshittifies my timeline for $1 (I gave $5). The devs gotta make money somehow- else; how are they going to host the backend to make this possible? Think, people; THINK!

What people don't understand is that the donation for this extension is for the developer of the SponsorBlock extension that far too many people use and is totally free just because of this extension. Yes, DeArrow does pretty much what other extensions do but it does it better in my opinion, but that's not what's important, it's the support you can give a developer for their work in general, not just for what you bought.

0 stars, this is a paid extension that does the EXACT SAME functionality of a free extension "Clickbait Remover for Youtube" You'd have to be nutty to install and pay for this extension, just go get the free one dudes.

"Clickbait Remover" is a great extension, but it has different features. You can read in the description how they differ. - Unlike Clickbait Remover, DeArrow's main purpose is for crowdsourcing better titles and thumbnails. Clickbait Remover is for formatting existing titles. - When a crowdsourced title is not available, DeArrow will auto-format it according to your setting, but does it in a more sophisticated way than Clickbait Remover. Instead of only setting all words to lower case, or capitalizing every word, DeArrow supports casing systems such as "Title Case" and "Sentence case". These will still allow acronyms and proper names to remain capitalized. - When a crowdsourced thumbnail is not available, DeArrow by default shows a screenshot at a random timestamp in the video. Clickbait Remover's thumbnails use YouTube auto-generated thumbnails, and while they are seemingly random, they are chosen by a machine learning algorithm to favor faces with expressions, and other overstimulating features. DeArrow uses truly random timestamps generated by its own server. DeArrow will also check the SponsorBlock database to ensure the randomized thumbnail is not inside of a sponsor segment.

One of those extensions that makes the internet bearable again. Worth every penny.

Really disappointed in the fact you are using license keys at all, asking for donations to keep the app alive is fine and I would probably donate same as I do with the adblock I use but I don't agree with your choice of intentionally introducing friction for people who want to use the extension without paying for it. Unfortunately, I won't be using this extension and I'll switch to a different extension with fewer features and without this artificial friction.
