Ugot Browser Agent connects an AI agent to websites you allow in your Chrome browser. It lets the agent read pages, click, type and capture screenshots while using the login session already present in Chrome. CONTROL WHAT THE AGENT CAN ACCESS Allow individual sites in the extension settings. Each page and frame needs permission for its own site. Screenshot capture requires a separate all-sites permission. SEE AND STOP THE WORK An on-page border and virtual cursor show the agent's activity. Use the Stop control or press Esc to stop it. In the default approval mode, actions identified as submissions, payments, deletions or messages ask for approval on the page. The connected agent's approval mode affects these checks. Automated password entry is blocked. KEEP TASKS ORGANIZED With the optional tab-groups permission, tabs created by the agent can be grouped by task name and color. The extension preserves tabs you opened yourself and groups you have modified. GET STARTED You need Node.js 20 or later, an MCP-compatible AI client and the local Ugot bridge. 1. Install this extension. 2. Configure your AI client's MCP server to run npx with arguments: -y ugot-browser-bridge@0.2.2 mcp 3. Set UGOT_BROWSER_BACKEND=extension in that server's environment to select this Chrome extension. Complete Ugot sign-in through the bridge when prompted. 4. Open the extension settings on a site you want to use, allow that site and check the bridge connection. 5. Start a task from your connected AI client. Enable task groups in the extension settings if you want named, colored groups. DATA HANDLING The extension connects to a local bridge on 127.0.0.1. Page text, element information and requested screenshots from allowed pages are passed through that bridge to your AI client. Depending on your AI provider and settings, this data may be processed by an external service. Review the content you allow the agent to access and your AI provider's data practices.
