)Overview
Automatically copies selected text to the clipboard and keeps a local history of everything you copy.
Select Copy - Auto Copy Text copies text to the clipboard as soon as you select it and keeps a searchable clipboard history of everything you copy in Chrome. Select to copy with the mouse or keyboard, then paste anywhere with Ctrl+V. Key features • Auto copy on any website: no Ctrl+C needed • Clipboard history with search, pinning and one-click copy • Records Ctrl/Cmd+C and Ctrl/Cmd+X as well as auto copy • Can be turned off for a single site or a list of sites • History stays in your browser: no account, no cloud, no network requests • Interface in 20 languages How it works • Select text with the mouse, double-click a word, or select with the keyboard (Shift+arrow keys, Ctrl/Cmd+A). When the selection is finished, the text is copied. • A short "Copied" notification with the character count appears next to the cursor. • Press Alt+Shift+V or click the toolbar icon to open the history. The shortcut can be changed at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Clipboard history This copy on select extension also works as a lightweight clipboard manager: • Search by text, page title or address. • Click an entry or press Enter to copy it again. • Pin entries you reuse: pinned entries stay at the top and are never removed by the history limit. • Delete single entries or clear everything except pinned ones. • Keep 10 to 1000 entries (200 by default); the oldest unpinned entries are removed first. • Copying the same text again moves it to the top instead of creating a duplicate. • Export the history to JSON and import it back; identical text is not duplicated. You stay in control • Turn auto copy on or off from the popup in one click. • Turn the extension off for the current site from the popup, or list domains in the settings. Subdomains are covered too. On these sites nothing is copied or recorded. • Auto copy in input fields is off by default, so selecting text you are about to replace does not overwrite what you want to paste. You can turn it on. • Password fields are never copied or recorded. • In Incognito the history is not recorded by default. • Also adjustable: minimum selection length, trimming spaces at the edges, the notification, recording of manual copy. Privacy The history is stored only in this browser's local storage. Settings use Chrome's sync storage, so they follow your Chrome account if sync is on; the history does not. No network requests, no analytics, no account. Why each permission is needed: • Storage: keeps the history and settings. • Clipboard write: puts the selected text in the clipboard. • Offscreen document: a fallback for writing to the clipboard when a page blocks it. • Scripting: starts the extension in tabs that were already open when it was installed or updated. • Access to all sites: lets it notice your selections and copy actions on any page. Limitations • Chrome does not allow extensions on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store or the built-in PDF viewer, so nothing is copied there. • Text only: images and formatting are not stored. • Some "Copy" buttons on websites write to the clipboard directly; those copies do not appear in the history. • After turning the extension off and on again at chrome://extensions, reload the tabs that were already open. Languages English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Polish, Dutch, Turkish, Czech, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Vietnamese. The interface follows your Chrome language.
