FilmMetrics
Overview
A lightweight Chrome extension for YouTube and Google Drive viewing insights.
FilmMetrics helps independent filmmakers understand how real audiences respond to their films and trailers — moment by moment, not just view counts. HOW IT WORKS Viewers watch your film on YouTube or Google Drive as normal. A small, unobtrusive icon appears on the page — click it to react with an emoji, leave a timestamped comment, or (at the end) fill out a short audience questionnaire. In the background, FilmMetrics passively tracks engagement signals: play, pause, seek, rewind, replays, playback speed, and completion. FOR FILMMAKERS Open the Filmmaker Dashboard to see, per movie: • Total viewers and sessions • Completion rate and where viewers drop off • Which moments get replayed most • Reaction and rating distributions • Every comment and questionnaire response, timestamped to the scene • Optional AI-generated insights — a plain-language summary of audience sentiment, strongest and weakest moments, and editing suggestions, built from your real audience data PRIVACY FIRST • Works fully offline — your data is stored on your device until you choose to sync it • No names, emails, or personal identity collected — ever • You can clear all local data anytime from the extension panel FilmMetrics only runs on youtube.com and drive.google.com, and only shows its panel there — it doesn't track your browsing anywhere else.
