Tab Sandwich
Overview
Save a tab or a whole window in one click, organize with color-coded categories. 100% local — nothing leaves your browser.
Tab Sandwich is a fast, focused way to save and organize the tabs you want to come back to. SAVE INSTANTLY Click the toolbar icon (or press Alt+S): the popup shows the page you're on. Pick a category if you like and hit Save — its title and URL are saved immediately. Need to save a link that isn't your active tab? Use the + button. Already saved the page? The popup says so, and one click updates the saved copy. SAVE WITHOUT OPENING ANYTHING Right-click any link or page, choose Save to Tab Sandwich and a category: the link is saved with its own words as the title, and the toolbar icon flashes a check mark to say so. BESIDE THE PAGE, OR ON A PAGE OF ITS OWN Keep Tab Sandwich open in Chrome's side panel while you browse, or make the side panel what the toolbar icon opens. Big collection? The full-page library shows everything in one table: categories and saved windows in a sidebar, sort by any column, edit many tabs at once, and tidy up with a tip. It stays quick with thousands of tabs. FIND IT AGAIN, FAST Search matches titles, sites and your notes as you type, with the matching letters highlighted; type a category's or saved window's name to see everything in it. Press Enter to open the top result. From anywhere, type ts and a space in Chrome's address bar to search your saved tabs without opening anything. Sort by newest, oldest, title, site, recently opened or most opened, and switch back to your own order any time. Kept tabs you haven't opened in six months? A quiet tip offers to archive them. ORGANIZE WITH CATEGORIES Give any saved tab a color-coded category, and Tab Sandwich learns where pages go: save another page from the same site or project and it suggests the category you used, worked out on your device. Each row is tinted in its category's color and names it under the title, so the list is easy to scan. Filter with a click, and manage categories (add, rename, remove, reorder, recolor) in Settings. READ LATER, OR KEEP Pick the categories you save things to read later: once a tab there has waited a week (or however long you like), it gets a small moon badge, and a "Waiting" filter rounds them all up. Everything else, like dev tools, docs and accounts, is kept and never nags. Pin the ones you use most to keep them on top, and add a note on why you saved something. REMINDERS Want a tab back on a certain day? While editing it, choose Remind me tomorrow or next week: at 9:00 that day a notification brings it back, and it waits under Waiting until you open it. Turn on the waiting count and the toolbar icon shows how many tabs are waiting. SAVE A WHOLE WINDOW Forty tabs open? One click saves every page in the window into a category, skipping browser pages and anything already saved, with an exact count. Then close them all with one more click, or keep them open. A saved window stays together in your list under a name like "Toasted Rye": open it, rename it, reopen all its tabs in a new window, or break it apart. EDIT, REORDER, ARCHIVE, UNDO Fix a title or URL without deleting and re-adding. Drag tabs into whatever order makes sense to you. Select several at once to move them to a category or archive them in one go. Archive what you don't need right now, or every tab that's waited too long in one click: it leaves the list but stays saved, ready to restore exactly where it was, or to delete for good. Undo is always one click away. LIGHT AND DARK Follows your computer's light or dark mode, even while open, or pick one in Settings. BACKUP AND KEYBOARD Export everything to a file and import it later. Every action works from the keyboard — arrow keys, Enter to open, E to edit, P to pin, Delete to archive, Alt+arrows to reorder, / to search — and a customizable keyboard shortcut opens the popup. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS Tab Sandwich stores everything locally on your device using Chrome's own storage APIs. Nothing is ever sent to a server, tracked, or shared — there is no server. The extension requests only the permissions it actually uses: access to your current tab (only when you click the extension or its right-click menu), local storage, read-only access to Chrome's own local favicon cache to show each saved tab's icon (no favicon data is stored, and nothing is ever fetched from the tab's own site), the right-click menu (and, when you save a link from it, reading that one link's words for its title), the side panel, and alarms to wake it for your reminders. Saving a whole window, or saving from the side panel, needs permission to see your open tabs; showing a reminder needs permission for notifications. Chrome asks for each only when you first need it, and everything else works if you say no. NEW IN 4.0 Tab Sandwich goes beyond the popup. Right-click any link to save it straight into a category. Keep your list open in the side panel, or browse it all in the full-page library. Search from the address bar with ts, set a reminder on any tab, and, if you like, see on the toolbar icon how many tabs are waiting.
