Overview

Search the full text of pages you've read. Stored on your computer, never sent anywhere.

TextMemory saves the text of web pages you read and lets you search it later. Search by any phrase you remember, even when you've forgotten the site or the title. Everything stays on your computer. There's no account, no server, no sync and no analytics. Nothing you read is uploaded anywhere. HOW IT WORKS • A page is saved once you've actually read it: it was in front of you for a few seconds and you scrolled it. Pages you only open briefly are not saved. • Press Ctrl+Shift+F (Cmd+Shift+F on Mac), or type "tm" and a space in the address bar, and search. • Click a result to open the page at the passage that matched, with it highlighted. • Search handles plurals, other word forms in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian and Dutch, and small typos. • Filter by site or date, sort by best match or newest, and use quotes for exact phrases, site:example.com, or -word to leave words out. • PDFs you read in Chrome are searchable too. PRIVACY BUILT IN • Pages that ask for a password, card number or one-time code are skipped. • Addresses that carry a sign-in or access key, such as password reset links, are skipped. • Incognito windows are never saved. • Sensitive sites, such as email and banking, are skipped by default. You can adjust this in settings or add your own sites. • Or choose strict mode, where only sites you add one by one are ever read. Chrome enforces this, not just the extension. • Nothing is saved until you finish setup. YOU'RE IN CONTROL • Pause saving for an hour, forget a page, or never keep a site again from the toolbar button. • Set how long pages are kept and how much space they may use. The oldest pages are removed first, and pinned pages are never removed. • Every removal is listed in settings. • Export everything to a JSON file, import it back, or delete everything with one click. TextMemory is open source under the MIT licence.
