Winnow is a reading filter for X. It scores every post in your timeline as it appears and marks the handful worth your attention, dimming the rest, so you can stop scrolling past the good ones and stop spending your day on the bad ones. It is a filter, not an automation tool. Winnow reads the page and marks it up. That is all it does. HOW IT SCORES Every post gets 0–100 from three weighted signals, computed locally in your browser: • Freshness (50%) — a conversation you join in the first fifteen minutes is a different conversation from one you join three hours late. • Headroom (30%) — how much room is left. Lots of views and few replies means your reply gets read. A post already forty replies deep does not. • Relevance (20%) — how well the post matches the keywords you configured. Posts at or above your threshold get a coloured edge and a score badge. Everything else fades to 40%. Replies, blacklisted accounts, and engagement bait ("drop your link", "like and RT", "comment below") are filtered out before scoring. The arithmetic is deterministic. The same post with the same settings always gets the same score, and the badge tooltip shows you exactly which signals produced it. SET UP IN ONE CLICK On install you pick one of four profiles — indie hacker / build in public, backend / infra, mobile / iOS, or product design / UX. That fills in a keyword set and sensible thresholds, and Winnow starts working immediately. Nothing is locked: every value stays editable, and the profiles are one click away in settings if you want to switch. Prefer to write your own list from scratch? "Set up my own keywords" takes you straight there instead. If you ever end up with no keywords configured, the toolbar icon carries a reminder for as long as that's true — relevance keeps working the moment you add some back. WHY EACH POST SCORED WHAT IT DID Hover any score badge and it tells you in plain words: "8 min old · 340 views · 2 replies · matched: stripe, webhook". No guessing at what the number means. WHAT YOU CONFIGURE Your keywords, a handle blacklist, maximum post age, minimum views, maximum replies, the score threshold, and a master on/off switch. Changes apply to open tabs immediately. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • It does not post, reply, like, follow, or click anything for you. It is read-only. • It does not ask for your X login. There is no OAuth, no X API, no sign-in. • It does not send your browsing anywhere. There is no analytics and no server of ours. • It does not use an LLM. Scoring is local arithmetic, which is why it is instant and free of running costs. WORKS ON The home timeline, search results including the Latest tab, and community feeds. PRICING Free: 50 posts scored per day, resetting at midnight your time. Pro: unlimited, unlocked with a licence key you paste into the settings page. PRIVACY The only network request Winnow ever makes is validating your licence key with Lemon Squeezy, and it contains nothing but the key. Post content, handles, and your settings never leave your browser.
