End to end browser privacy: fingerprint protection, tracker and beacon blocking, link cleaning, cookie hygiene, per site profiles.

Most privacy tools pick one lane. Ad blockers cut requests but leave your hardware, fonts and canvas readable. Anti fingerprinting tools scramble your identity but let analytics beacons through. Cookie tools clear storage but ignore the tracking identifiers glued to the links you click. Veil covers the whole chain, from the request leaving your machine to the value a script reads back inside the page. WHAT IT COVERS Network: known tracker, analytics and telemetry endpoints are refused before a connection is made, along with speculative prefetch, social embeds and beacon exhaust. Requests: User Agent, Client Hints, Accept-Language and Referer are rewritten coherently, tracking parameters are stripped from links, and plain HTTP is upgraded where the host supports it. Page: canvas, WebGL, audio, fonts, screen, timezone, hardware, plugin and WebRTC surfaces return values that agree with the headers you just sent. Storage: third party cookie blocking, session only cookies, and timed automatic forgetting of site data. Proof: a built in self test reads the same surfaces a tracker would, from the page and from a third party frame, and tells you where they disagree. TWO DEFAULTS, THEN WHATEVER YOU WANT Blend makes every Veil user on a site report the same plausible, popular machine, so you hide in a crowd instead of standing out as unique. Rotate gives every site its own identity, seeded per site per session, so cross site correlation fails while logins keep working. Both are read only, so they mean the same thing on every install. Custom profiles can be created, named, described, given an emoji icon, carry their own trusted and hardened site lists, and be exported or imported as a small JSON file. When exporting you tick exactly which sections travel. THREE LAYERS OF CONTROL Every module has off or on, a mode, and where it applies a shortlist of permitted values: a handful of User Agents, locales, timezones, screen sizes or hardware profiles, noise ceilings, a WebRTC policy, a rotation interval, and an editable tracking parameter list. Veil labels the uniqueness cost of each choice rather than hiding it. The same popup shows the exact values the current page is being told, and any value can be copied with a click. TAKING THE BEST FROM THE FIELD Veil takes seeded per site randomisation and the shield style counter from Brave, the crowd blending idea from Tor Browser, declarative request blocking in the spirit of uBlock Origin, link cleaning in the spirit of ClearURLs, and cookie hygiene in the spirit of Cookie AutoDelete. It adds two things most of them leave out: it refuses to apply a disguise whose headers and page values contradict each other, and it ships its own offline self test so you never have to trust a claim you cannot check. Where something cannot be done properly under Manifest V3, such as Privacy Badger style runtime learning, the README says so plainly instead of implying it.
