DC Translator for Discord™ - Private AI

)Overview
Translate Discord messages both ways with Chrome's built-in on-device AI. 100% private, free and unlimited.
Your server speaks five languages. You speak one. Every international Discord community has the same moment. Someone drops a long message in Spanish, or Japanese, or Portuguese, and half the channel goes quiet. You copy the text, switch tabs, paste it into a translator, read it, switch back, and by then the conversation has moved on. Do that thirty times a night and you stop bothering. You just scroll past everything you cannot read. It does not have to work that way. WHY LANGUAGE BARRIERS ON DISCORD ARE SO HARD Discord connects people around one shared interest, a game, a project, a market, a hobby. Interest has no borders, so the servers that matter are international by default. - Discord has no built-in chat translation on the web app - Copy-pasting into translator tabs kills the flow of a live conversation - Most translator extensions send every message to a cloud server, so your private chats travel to someone else's backend - The same extensions meter you: 100 free translations, then a subscription - Gaming and community slang breaks brittle word-by-word translators Most people end up ignoring half their server. Moderators answer international members with one-word replies. Communities quietly split by language. This extension removes the barrier without sending a single message to the cloud. WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES DC Translator adds two-way translation directly inside Discord in your browser. It runs on Chrome's built-in on-device AI translation engine, the same technology behind Chrome's native page translation, so everything happens locally on your computer. No account. No API key. No message quota. No cloud round-trips. Here's what you get: Translate button on every message - hover a message, click the small globe button, and the translation appears right under the original text with a language tag. The original stays visible, nothing is replaced. Auto-translate mode - turn it on and new messages in foreign languages are translated as they arrive. Messages already in your language are left alone automatically. Outgoing translation - write in your own language, press Enter, and the message is sent in the language you chose. A small chip above the input box shows when outgoing translation is active, one click toggles it. Language detection - the source language is detected automatically per message. In a server where three languages mix in one channel, each message is handled on its own. 30+ languages - English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Russian and more, as supported by Chrome's on-device translation packs. Clean rendering - code blocks are never translated, custom emoji are preserved, reply quotes are not duplicated. Translations respect Discord's dark and light themes. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the extension and open discord.com 2. Hover any message and click the globe button to translate it 3. Open the extension popup to pick your target language or enable auto-translate 4. Optional: enable outgoing translation and choose the language your messages should be sent in That's it. The first time you use a new language pair, Chrome downloads a small language pack once, then it works offline. WHY ON-DEVICE TRANSLATION Cloud translator extensions have two structural problems: your messages leave your machine, and every translation costs the developer money, which is why they meter you and sell subscriptions. On-device AI removes both. Your chats are processed by Chrome itself, on your hardware. Nothing to upload means nothing to leak, and nothing to meter means no counter ticking toward a paywall. Local translation is also fast. There is no network round-trip, so results appear in a fraction of a second even on a busy channel. WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES NOT DO - It does not send your messages, server names, or any chat data to any server - It does not read or store your Discord account information - It does not track you, no analytics, no telemetry - It does not modify or automate your Discord account, it only reads the messages already on your screen and writes into the input box when you ask it to The only permissions it uses: - storage - saves your language settings in your browser profile - Access to discord.com - required to show translations inside the Discord web app That's it. No broad host access, no background network requests. FREE AND UNLIMITED Every feature described above is free with no translation limit. There is no trial period, no credit system, and no account to create. On-device translation has no per-message cost, so there is nothing to meter. REQUIREMENTS Chrome 138 or newer on desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS). The extension uses Chrome's built-in Translator API, which is not available in older versions or on mobile. Language packs are downloaded once per language pair, most are 20-40 MB. WHO THIS IS FOR - Members of international gaming servers who want to actually follow the conversation - Moderators and community managers who answer members in many languages - Crypto, NFT and trading communities where the alpha is posted in someone else's language - Open source and developer servers with global contributors - Language learners who want to read real conversations with a translation one click away - Anyone in a cross-border friend group that lives on Discord GETTING STARTED Install, open Discord in your browser, hover a message, click the globe. Your first translation takes about three seconds including the one-time language pack download. No account needed. No sign-up. No credit card. Just read your server.
