Suede Sing turns any Chrome tab into a vocal studio. Open the side panel, sing, and watch your pitch land, in real time, measured in cents, with no signup, no recording, and no upload. It is the browser edition of Suede Sing, the vocal training app from Suede Labs AI, and it runs the same pitch-detection engine as the Suede Sing iPhone app. WHAT YOU GET • Live pitch tuner. See the note you are singing and exactly how many cents sharp or flat you are. A tuner built for a voice, not a guitar: it tracks the fundamental through vibrato and ignores the harmonics that make ordinary tuners jump an octave. • Vocal range test. Siren from your lowest comfortable note to your highest. Suede Sing records both ends, reports your span in semitones, and reads it against the standard classifications: bass, baritone, tenor, alto, mezzo-soprano, soprano. • Guided warmups. Five-note scales, major arpeggios, octave sirens, and sustained tones. Hear the target pitch, sing it back, and get scored on how close you landed. PRIVACY: YOUR VOICE NEVER LEAVES YOUR COMPUTER This is the part most singing tools get wrong, so it is worth being plain about. Suede Sing analyses each audio frame in your browser and throws it away immediately. Nothing is recorded. Nothing is uploaded. There is no account, no sign-in, no server, and no analytics or tracking script anywhere in the extension. Your practice history lives in local extension storage and you can wipe it from Chrome at any time. The extension asks for the microphone, and for permission to show its pitch meter on YouTube, YouTube Music, and Spotify Web. That is the whole list. It cannot read the pages you visit, and it never touches the audio those sites play. It only listens to you. COMMON QUESTIONS How do I find my vocal range? Open the side panel, choose Range, and siren slowly from your lowest comfortable note up to your highest and back down. Sixty seconds is enough. Suede Sing shows the lowest and highest notes you actually reached, your span in semitones, and the voice type that range fits. What is a good vocal range? Most untrained singers cover somewhere between 1.5 and 2 octaves. Trained singers commonly reach 2.5 to 3. Range grows with consistent, unforced practice, which is why the extension tracks yours over time rather than grading you once. What does "cents" mean? A cent is one hundredth of a semitone. Within about 10 cents of a note, a listener hears you as in tune. Beyond 25, most people hear it. Suede Sing shows the number so you can stop guessing. Do I need a microphone? Any built-in laptop microphone works. A headset or USB microphone gives a cleaner reading, and headphones stop your speakers from feeding the backing track into the pitch detector. Is this free? Yes, and there is no trial, no paywall, and no upsell inside the extension. Does it work offline? Yes. Everything runs locally, so the studio keeps working with no connection. The YouTube sing-along meter obviously needs YouTube, but the pitch detection behind it does not. Can I use it to warm up before singing? That is what the Warmups tab is for.
