A local-first task list with a morning brief and an end-of-day check. No account, no server, no network.

Daybook is a task list that lives entirely on your computer. There is no account to create, no server to sync with, and no network access of any kind. It cannot read the pages you visit, because it never asks for permission to. Close the browser and your tasks are still on your disk, in your Chrome profile, and nowhere else. It is built around two moments in a day rather than around a database. THE MORNING BRIEF At a time you choose — 09:00 by default — a window opens with what is due today and what is already late. If there is genuinely nothing to report, it doesn't open at all. THE END-OF-DAY CHECK At 18:00 by default, a second window lists everything still open. One click moves all of it to tomorrow. On a clear day it says so in one line, because the confirmation is the point of an end-of-day check. Reminders are skipped on days you don't work — weekends by default — and if Chrome was closed when one was due, you get it when you next open the browser. THE LIST ITSELF · A toolbar popup on Alt+T, opening on a rolling seven-day week. Each day is a band you can open or close, so you can see what Friday looks like before you agree to something on Friday. · A full tab on Alt+Shift+T, with five views, live counts, search across every task, and a detail pane. · Four fields per task — title, description, priority, due date — and only the title is required. Due-date shortcuts for today, tomorrow and next week. · Ticking something off is always undoable, with an explicit Undo and Cmd+Z. MOVING YOUR TASKS Export writes a plain JSON file. Import reads it back, and asks whether to merge or replace before it touches anything. That is also how you move tasks to another computer: tasks are deliberately not put in Chrome profile sync, whose 100 KB quota a year of tasks would exceed mid-write. Your settings do sync. WHAT IT IS NOT No projects, sprints, boards, assignees, comments, sub-tasks or time tracking. No AI. No upsell, no paid tier, no telemetry of any kind. HONEST LIMITATIONS · Reminders can only fire while Chrome is running. Chrome cannot wake a closed browser. Daybook catches you up on the ones you missed when it next starts. · If you are focused in another application, your operating system may not let a background window jump in front — you'll get a taskbar or dock bounce instead. That is why the system notification runs alongside the window. · Tasks do not sync between machines. Use export and import.
